Geometry is the darkest of all the arts.

Just finished development on this cool website.

Image

artemopolis.com

It's an online library of free science fiction books and short stories. Take a look and read a thing. There are some short stories around 2000 words so you have no excuse.

I designed and developed the whole thing so let me know what you think of the design. Also tell me of bugs.

If you have any suggestions of things to add to the library let me know and I will add them. (Eventually.)

I havent looked at the site yet, just wanted to say I really liked that blued out book wall.

I continue to add books and short stories to the databse

I havent heard of some of these and I felt I wanted to see a short description.
It should fit ok in that white box, with a bit of rearranging, or not.
But then you need to find one or make one up.

Thanks for the feedback Tzan!

This is something I considered but I couldn't write, because I actually haven't read all the stuff up there. There are probably some summaries in the public domain too so maybe I could get those. I'm willing to accept that some people don't appreciate a surprise as much as I do.

Would you like to see it on the page for the work, or somewhere else? The design of the site includes quite a lot of white boxes so I'm not sure what you mean.

Yeah I'm not sure how hard it is to find a description and then maybe shrink it.

The white box is on the Browse page.
Title
Author - year
Description

You just need to push things up a bit to fit several sentences.

The Time Machine
H. G. Wells ......................................... 1898   ( no need for the dots )
In the Victorian age a machine gains sentience and the ability to travel through time.
It uses this newfound skill to collect gray cults beyond the door.
Contains words you never knew existed, bring a dictionary.

I like the stats line too.

Of course you could fit something longer on the main story page.

--------------------------
Not sure why clicking on the Search link at top, displays
the Browse page
and the Basic search panel

While clicking on Browse displays
the Browse page
with the Advanced search panel

Not sure you need two different pages.
------------------------------
Advanced panel is throwing an error, type in "time"
Fatal error: Call to a member function fetch_row() on a non-object in /home/public/search.php on line 181

Basic panel works fine

-----------------------
can't switch between basic/advanced
I don't think basic is really needed.

Thanks for all your opinions. I agree that a summary is helpful so I'll figure out how to implement that.

I couldn't recreate your error with the advanced panel -- can you tell me how you got it? Also it might be fixed now.

Again, I couldn't recreate. Can you tell me the steps you went through to get to the page, the url of the page, and your browser?

Also it works on JQuery so you need to have Javascript enabled.

Ah, it looked like a normal site.
I have NoScript running on FF, I keep forgetting to turn it off when I run into an issue.
It all works fine, sorry for the bother.

Pony gets word-filtered into penis.

Unless Zupponn is trolling, which is always a good bet.

Sometimes I type pony when I mean penis because I know it will get wordfiltered.
