Humanoid Mech Frame

Post by BFenix » Wed May 04, 2011 12:46 pm

So, for my upcoming mech project Im going for a humanoid type frame, something I havent accomplished successfully, yet. I searched the web for various frames and this one seems to be the very best. Various joints, very poseable and overall customizable.

Im am going to make it slightly larger though but the basic frame on my mind is this one.

Ill soon update this with a list of pieces I can find built on the ALM-018 (frame's name). Perhaps you guys could then help me fill in the gaps? And of course, some tips and advice for this construction would be highly appreciated. If you want to see more pics follow this link: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=132958

yeah, this with armor and alot of guns is going to be amazing. but where are you going to acquire those finger pieces? they're pretty old... anyway, can't wait to see how this turns out!

the only thing i would change is the fingers, those peices fall apart with age. i used them for the joints on one of my small mechs and just having it posed, they started falling apart after a few years. even quicker with any use.

they have updated versions of those joints, like the clicky ones (not an exact match, but :fudge:) anyway, BFenix's version is gonna have OTC's, not fingers, remember?

I'd nix the arms entirely and just slap on some big-ass guns.

The frame looks kool, but not to sure about the elbow & ankle joints. They look like they might be weak points later on when you bulk her up.

Probably, I might have to make some adjustments, mainly because I will have lots of bricks mounted upon the frame, not counting weapons. You got any tips on making strong articulations?

The old click-joints from the exo-force sets. Very strong.

I was thinking of something stronger. A balance between basic exoforce frames and teknomeka (natalyas AC)

I think they'll be fine, but the clicky ones are a possibility.... ball joints are another, but they might be hard to integrate into the ankles :?
