Getting a Tattoo

Post by BFenix » Mon May 30, 2011 12:33 pm

Right, so Im planning on getting one in my right forearm. Im pretty sure of what I would like to get done, a small thunder bolt, something similar to this but stretched and in all black color:

Image

Its not any sort of "being cool" thing. I would want it to characterize a time of my life and remind me of the truly important things, the ones that matter. Yes very sentimental, sew me.

I read this article and some others to get informed: http://www.essortment.com/pros-cons-sho ... 45678.html
Does it help? Also I've read that the arms are one of the least painful places to get tattoos. My main issue are the possible health issues and the artists material, if its well clean and sterilized.

Any advice and guidance would be most welcome, mainly if you have been tattooed.

Just make sure it's really something you want to do and that you won't mind looking at the image for the rest of your life. They are permanent after all.

I would so take the pure piss if you got such a lightning McQueen tat.

Either go full Yakuza or just don't bother. :) Small tats are for wumin, they look sexy on them. It's not for guys... althouogh Arky might have more to add about that, it's all well beyond my understanding though.

Yeah, really.... As my grandfather used to say, the only Tattoos are only for sailors. The only exceptions to this rule for him were his Jewish Neighbors(Holocaust Survivors).

There's no point in saying this to people. Most of the people who say this are boneriffic and don't really mean it. Some actually think they mean it, but really don't.
"Yea, I got this butterfly on my ankle to show how free I am, my maturity, and how I've grown so much from when I was younger. It also makes me unique because it's a tattoo, even though everyone I know has the same thing."
One day my friend was bored and said "I haven't gotten a tattoo yet." So he went to the tattoo place and saw an anchor with a banner across it, empty. He's like "That anchor's pretty cool, what's the most awesome thing I could have in there?"

He now has the most awesome tattoo, an anchor with the word "FUCK" in a banner around it. I'll try to get a picture.

That truly is awesome. But what about THESE:

Aw crap. In the course of my googling I see that one of my coworkers tried to make a minifig tattoo and it ended up looking like this.

That's one of the best artwork-wise I've seen for sure.

I've been thinking about getting a tattoo soon and I was talking to my friend about Power Rangers tattoos. I was going to get all of the 5 original animals in some configuration on my arm or my back.

We were also talking about the whole tattoos having meaning thing and we figured all the different animals could be a different part of me. Mastodon for wisdom, triceratops for something, t-rex for strength, saber-tooth for pride, pterodactyl for something. All of these are a part of me and combine to form me, the Megazord.

Don't forget the Beholder. Alternately, Odin.

Odin's missing the other eye, wouldn't be right to do that. Was contemplating getting my lost eye tattooed somewhere. I do like the beholder idea though.

So between the two of you you've got a full set. Are you sure you aren't the result of Odin's dismembered eye falling to earth and growing a new body for itself? Think about it, it'd explain so much.

I think his eye is at the bottom of the Well of Wisdom, so no luck on that. I'm not very awesome, so it's understandable.

I would really try and see in your mind what it will look like on a 70 year old arm. Then after you puke, really think about not doing it.
