Hum, could be, - but they would have to be semi-enclosed though and the vessel wouldn't be all that fast. BUT it would give it the ability to enter a planet's atmosphere from space.Hoboman wrote:Not even if we say the theory of Aether was right in the world you have?White Nun wrote: Only turbines don't work in space unfortunately.......
Could be interesting....... (goes away to sketch on the back of an envelope)

Pish posh, Aetheric Turbines work on the same principle as the more primitive Solar Sails the Empire used to work upon! Perfectly legitimate for operation in the coldness of the Black! Just because we have the newer Impulsive Steam-Rocket drives doesn't mean we can forget our history, wot-wot!

Of course! - how could I be so remiss as to forget basic Aether physics. Thank you for pointing this out to me good sir, I shall ever be in your debt.....Elmagnifico wrote:Pish posh, Aetheric Turbines work on the same principle as the more primitive Solar Sails the Empire used to work upon! The modernization isn't really a problem, it's just I have some Redcoats and have been wondering about how I'm going to outfit them and this just put more ideas in my head, right now I'm thinking the same guys as in this picture with the redcoat torsos instead would look badass but a unit with a more colonial look might be more appropriate for the Brittanians I'll be fielding. Either way I'll think of something.
@Silva: I don't have any dark skinned peach chaps for the Indian Rifles I want to do or you wouldst have them good suh. I also need tan bodies and legs with dark tan turbans, but I'm working on it. The loft cost at least 6 months Briklinking so no more buying for me until Manly Santa Day.
@Brag: British Redcoat Rorke's Drift Zulu Wars type uniforms with white piff helms. That's what I'd do. But throw some steampunk in.

You know what the Britannians need? Some greenshirt cavalry lead by Banastre Tarleton. That man knows how to deal with rebels.

Ok I've fiddled about with my designs for Brittanian troopers a bit more and the Her Majesty's First Royal Colonial 'Zulu' Regiment is looking good Some units will have to wait until they have their weapons before I show them, but for now:
1st Colonial 'Crusaders'
Heavy short-ranged infantry for when things get ugly. Because nothing is more steampunk than those helmets
"How's shooting?"
"Jolly good ol' chap!"
1st Colonial Redcoats
Versatile troops who form the mainstay of the 1st Colonial regiment (modelled after the Zulu forces). Might look better with a black firehose, anyway I can only make one of these guys right now.
I mostly don't have their guns yet, otherwise I'd show you the Blue Berets and Hussars as well. The chainsaw's likely a stayer because while it might be a bit atypical for the Brittanians, it comes in handy when cutting through jungles
