The Essential Budgie

Postby Ham701 » Mon Oct 10, 2011 6:48 pm

Some of you may know Budgie from Brutal Legend. Others may know budgies from Metallica's mehtastic covers of their songs. But for those who may not know much, Budgie is a metal band from Wales. From their "Good Years" being 1971-1975, they were amongst the heaviest around. The guitarist, Tony Bourge, was on par with the legendary Tony Iommi. They received some following in their native Britain, but never gained much attention in the US. Now, I'm on a mission to spread the greatness of Budgie around. Here are some of their best songs, in my opinion:

WARNING: Budgie songs tend to be longer than your average band. Proceed if you have enough time.

Oh right, Metallica covered Breadfan right? I must admit, some bands I discovered thanks to Garage Days. Nice band, very old school.

I know. Just thought it was funny.

Besides, metal songs in general are longer than your average pop tune.

Most budgie songs are like, longer than 6 minutes. At least two that I put up are 10 minutes or so long.

Budgie had 2 songs, Zoom Club and Breadfan. Maybe you missed the former, it's 10 minute full of guitar that starts out slow.
