RM's WH40K Paintlog
That's right, today I ran down to my local Hobby store and bought me a box of WH40K Imperial Guard Cadian Shock troops, some paints, glue, and the IG codex. Total price: $83. ( )
I got the miniatures assembled today, gonna paint them tomorrow.
The Sergeant, armed with a laspistol and a Chainsword.
Grenadier.
Vox Caster trooper.
Flamethrower troop. (I refuse to say "flamer"...)
So, I'll probably have an update tomorrow.

Come on man, Cadians? There are so many cooler IG armies! Vostroyans, Valhallans, Death Corps of Kreig, the Soviet ones, the Arabic ones, the airdrop ones, or in the very least Catachans!

He went to his neighbourhood gaming shop, so it's likely their only Imperial Guards were Cadians.Keldoclock wrote:Come on man, Cadians? There are so many cooler IG armies! Re: RM's WH40K Paintlog
All this is true, yet, you gotta admit, in such a rich and diverse universe like 40K's, an army like this lacks some originality. Besides, everytime I played against or saw a game with the IG, their infantry usually end up butchered as cannon fodder for the tanks. It's a tactic like any another sure, just not my tactic.RunsWithLegos wrote:WHat's not to love about the IG? lots of tanks, lots of men, awesome books, Awesome hero's, flexible army lists, endless customization possibilities, the list goes on and on

Re: RM's WH40K Paintlog
As Silver said, all the IG they had at my neighborhood hobby store was the Cadians, the only Catachans they had was the battleforce, which was $116. Also, I'm going to do a custom paint scheme so they aren't boring run-of-the-mill Cadians.
EDIT: Also, suggestions for Regiment names would be appreciated.

Paint's drying right now, pics in an hour or two. Also, I'm a little high from the brush cleaner fumes.
When I finished painting these guys, they reminded me a bite of WW2 german soldiers, with a bit of the Afrika Korps thrown in.

Ah, so my idea for a Penal Legion that uses it's prisoners as bait to lure the enemy into artillery strikes is common practice then?BFenix wrote:All this is true, yet, you gotta admit, in such a rich and diverse universe like 40K's, an army like this lacks some originality. Re: RM's WH40K Paintlog
Got them painted, gonna do some touch-up work and extra detailing (including camouflage) tomorrow, as well as decals.
The group
Sergeant
Back, notice the canteen detail
Flamethrower troop
Alternate view, notice the scorch pattern on the barrel.
Back, notice the skulls on the promethium tanks.
Vox caster troop
back view, notice the tiny details.
Grenadier.
back view, once again notice the canteen detail.
troops.
More troops.
EDIT: Also, I came up with a few ideas for names:
- The Iron Kriegers
- 86th Harkonian Legion
What do you guys think?
