Star Wars: The Old Republic
Is entirely lame. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! Shitty graphics, shittier gameplay, plus you need to enter in credit card information before you can even use your "free" 30-day trial. I do not suggest this game at all.

I heard it was pretty bad, but the credit card info thing now has totally ruined it for me.

It is WoW in space. If that is your thing, this is your game. If not, don't play it.

I used to be a Knight of the Old Republic, then I took a laserbolt to the knee.
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Really? I keep reading good reviews. Especially of the relatively encapsulated story elements, quests, ect, which several reviewers put on par with the non MMO Old Republic games. And I heard nothing but good things about the beta. Disagree?

Yes. It's the same old same old "we hook 'em on the nice story bits and keep 'em paying" scam.
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
I heard it's WoW in space with better and more in depth dialogue. I know I would rather play TOR than WoW.
On a side note, the events in KOTOR and TOR take place a long time before the movies, but do they really have any hint at technology being from an earlier time? It all seems the same to me. I did play KOTOR, but that was back when it came out and I don't really remember.

In TOR, It seems stuff like lightsabers are sorta new technology. Also, started a new game as a sith warrior today, lots more fun than the jedi.
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
I don't think it's a scam if you enjoy the story arcs and threads enough. At that point, why wouldn't it be worth it?

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
I thought KOTOR I and II felt pretty new when I played through them. Technology wise, it does show a big difference. Notice the lack of walkers, which were used for many purposes in the time frame of the prequel and original trilogies. Also look at the droids. The protocol droids (IMO) look kind of primitive compared to the shiny gold and silver models in the movies. And the battle droids are larger and more cumbersome, rather the smaller, more agile and advanced battle droids in the films. The only real thing I thought that was similiar to both KOTOR and the movies was the jedi (duh) and the starships. On a side note, the events in KOTOR and TOR take place a long time before the movies, but do they really have any hint at technology being from an earlier time? And the fact that the sith are trying to take over the galaxy.Ben-Jammin wrote: The only real thing I thought that was similiar to both KOTOR and the movies was the jedi (duh) and the starships.

THIS. Also, avoid the official forums and them rabid fanboys, they'll rip you to shreds even if you make constructive criticism of their "pwetty widdle game".Keldoclock wrote:It is WoW in space. If that is your thing, this is your game. If not, don't play it.

I myself am a fanboy, but at least I can admit that many of Lucasarts' games are kinda bad. Does that mean I am not a fanboy after all?THIS. Also, avoid the official forums and them rabid fanboys, they'll rip you to shreds even if you make constructive criticism of their "pwetty widdle game".
Anyway, the only lucasarts games I really liked that I still play are the KOTOR games and JKII and III. I occaisionally play SW:GBS every once in a while, but my computer always says "Has encountered an error and has to close" every twenty minutes I play, so I have to constantly save.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
I've been enjoying it rather more than I ever did WoW. It's amazing how much difference meaningful dialog makes to the questing process. Also, though the space combat is on rails, it's still quite a fun interlude.
