I like that Idea better. New name: 86th Harkonian Mechanized Infantry, "The Steel Warmongers". That seems to work better.

Also, Made a custom little Fallen Squad Marker:

Image

Image
It's the stereotype makeshift grave, with a rifle supporting a helmet. To make the "rock" it's sitting on, I snipped off a little bit of the sprue these guys came on and painted it to look a *bit* like a rock. I then proceeded to paint the rifle and helmet as usual. I intend to place this on the battlefield when the final troop in the squad dies, just to keep track.

So, what do you guys think?
(also, apologies for the semi-blurry pics-- they don't do this thing justice, IMO)

Wait, the guns and helmet are *done*?

THEY ARE GREY FOR GODS SAKE MAN AT LEAST GET A SPLOTCH OR TWO OF TAN ON THERE. MAYBE SOME SORTA UNIT INSIGNIA OR OTHER PERONALIZATION.

UNLESS THEY ARE THE GREY KNIGHTS OR GANDALF NO MINIATURE SHOULD BE GREY.

EDIT: Also consider some dark brown or black ink washes on everything.

Codex Gray: It obviously is a lost concept to some of you.

Also, tan camouflage? Good idea, I might have to try that.

Made a Minecraft Skin of these guys, minus the camouflage. (The program I use makes arms+legs symmetrical, so camo would look weird.)

One of my friends started WH40K today, he plays Necrons. Also, I made him a Necron Warrior skin.

However, I am unable to get that nifty little forumcode preview. :fu:

Update time! Today I ran down to the hobby store and picked up an IG Chimera and some Dwarf Bronze paint. I realized that the bronze really gave the tank a lot of character, so I'll probably repaint the details on the infantry so that some of them are bronze. Also, please note: This is preliminary, I WILL do touch-ups and more details, this was just all I painted today.

Image
I basecoated the tank in codex gray, and drybrushed boltgun metal over it to give it detail.

Image
For the Heavy Bolter, I made the cowling khaki with gray camouflage, with a black body and a bronze barrel. Also, all the Imperial Aquilas are bronze.

Image
Painted the inside of the hatch black, gonna paint the interior later.

Image

Image
Back view, made the pistons bronze with the gray/gunmetal combo.

Image
Turret, the heavy stubber was a royal pain in the ass to glue together.

Image
I'm definitely gonna do touch-ups to the commander.

Image

So, what do you guys think?

MOAR highlights and shadows. Use black ink wash to make the shadows, and patience for the highlights.

See if you can get some metallic color onto all the rivets on the tank. Use bronze if you feel like having a really brassy tank, otherwise just some silver mixed with grey.

You really need to file down some of those pieces. I can see the points where you broke it off the sprues and they really stick out to me, even though I've never put a model together in my life.

So stfu.

@Silva: My friend started playing Necrons, he says they're kinda easy to assemble and very easy to paint, since he got spray primer.

@Keldo: Yeah, I'm saving up for a wash set.

For tanks in this army, I'm going for a bit of a Panzer feel.
