The Legend of Korra

Postby Tzan » Sat Apr 14, 2012 9:58 am

It starts today.

The series is a sequel to Avatar: The Last Airbender, which aired on the same network from 2005 to 2008, and is currently set to run for 26 episodes.

The show is expected to be darker-themed than the original show, but with a balance between mature themes and a sense of fun and adventure;

I guess it's all about MMA now instead of Kung-Fu in their martial arts, to boot. The first two episodes got leaked, and apparently they're really good? I haven't seen em.

I saw them yesterday and yes, they are really good.

Take a shot every time you recognize a reused secondary character personality!

If someone hadn't seen Avatar, would they still be able to get into Korra?

Yeah, no problem.
It starts 70 years later and only one character from then is in now, the old lady you see at the beginning.
She is Ang's wife (Ang is the old avatar, who is now dead) and the mother of the Air Bending master.
The Air Bending master is Ang's son.

I really liked Avatar, but never followed it. Now I really want to watch the series and then this.

I saw the first episode. It was brilliant. The voice acing, art design and music were all just as awesome as TLA. I also love the conflict between the benders and anti benders.
And that question about Zuko's mother was some epic trolling.

Didn't they do that episode already? Where Bender got his hands on a time machine?

I do hope someone tells Korra to check her privilege at some point.

That was the plot of the movie Bender's big score.

I actually kinda want the fire nation ship, for the ridiculous amount of grey bricks alone.

I've been pretty impressed so far. You can definitely tell it's aiming higher than Avatar: The Last Airbender was. More rough and tumble is how I'd put it. The new character designs and the sort of industrial revolution setting is just brilliant, it's going to be one of my must watch shows of 2012, along with Young Justice as soon as I find time to catch-up on that. All in all, tune in, you won't be disappointed.

Watched part of the newest episode last night, pretty good I guess. The industrial theme is pretty sweet, and for some reason, the masked guy that takes away people's bending reminds me of V. Especially when he shouts "The era of inequality is over!".
