I would've thought this would have a topic by now:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ouy ... me-console
It's beat it's goal 5 times over, I was really excited at first but now I'm a little skeptical, the video is misleading in some places, there are no games that are actually in development for it, the hacking sounds very open to piracy, 'free-to-play' is used incorrectly and it's going to have a lot of crappy android app ports.
Other than that though, an open-source console with a controller, only costing around $99? Epic. And the specs are workable too, especially considering the price.

Re: OUYA
The controller looks like shit. It looks flimsy and uncomfortable to hold.
All the games they show are just indie PC games. And Canabalt is one of their biggest names? Seriously?
And I also don't like the getting rid of licensing fees because the fees are the entry barrier that prevent random games from ruining the video game market. Anyone could read about ET and the video game crash of the early 80s and then its revival by the NES and its licensing fees.

Looks good, but that controller looks outright uncomfortable. I like the "open source"-ness of it, but I feel it'll end up like the Android, with a metric fuckton of garbage apps/games and viruses.

I don't know, it looks dangerous. I feel like a lot of this money will be wasted, and we already have a really cheap console with lots of games. I can't remember what it is called, but it is some cloud gaming thing. and about the controller, the wii controller looked uncomfortable, but you get used to it.

Want to get inside? You’ll need a standard screwdriver and nothing more. Go to town. We have standard USB ports and Bluetooth, so you’ll even be able to create your own peripherals.
