These Mercenaries serve as the bulk of the Second Kingdom's military strength, while independent, most have strong ties to the king or one of his generals and would not betray them except in desperation or disgust. Although it is normally the leaders who have the connections, so if the leader were to die, then the rest of the group could leave or disperse.
First: The Red Company and my personal favorite.
Led by a lordling sworn to the king, they are the most renowned infantry in all the kingdom. He is with his squire.
The Red Cloaks are said to be worth ten lesser foes and can hold it's own against cavalry.
The spearmen are used in choke points just as much as their heavy counterparts, but they can also charge.
The normal infantry or "Lions" are for when you simply need to bolster the troops or man a castle, no special armor or shields, these are the fighting men.
Now we move to a fallen great house of the First Kingdom, although not the rulers, they had power and a dragon to go with it. After the kingdom's fall, they went and sold their services to the new kings.
The Shadowman (dersite) leader with his Lesser second in command with the dragon in the background. (he wouldn't fit in the foreground to get me a good shot)
The great axe cavalry.
The archers are led and trained by an elf from the far eastern forests.
The short axemen who are just the regular infantry.
Next, a group of Knights from the south, wielding magic imbued sickles, and assorted mercs they picked up along the way.
Their leader, the faceless one, the plume signifies he is sworn to the blue king.
Who couldn't love that face?
The elite southern troops. Wearing light armor (+1 to armor) from the south and wielding sickles imbued with lightning and poison magic, causing it to hurt like a bitch (1d6+2 damage)
Some of the sellswords picked up on the road, they wear a more visible form of the light armor and wield southern made longswords.
A company of archers that signed on to make their fortune, they wield powerful crossbows (1d6+1)
And that is all folks! I will be showing the antagonists of the world, or at least one of them, tomorrow!

Those are some excellent troops. I'm glad Mo hasn't made off with them yet.

Thanks! I lock them in a vault every night.
I actually was a huge fan of squidhead men and bought the set around ten times. I needed the space police's helmets for my modern troopers.Predator wrote:<3 Red Cloaks, did you order the capes for them from bricklink or just got them in sets?

I have enough squid heads for an army but I can't get a good way to armor them effectively. The skeleton armor works but I don't have enough.

You clearly still don't understand how armor works. You're assuming that they block EVERY single attack with their shields, and are ignoring a lot of the simple ways in which even the lowliest minifigs can overcome armor. Two-knifes McGee has a 1/3 chance of puncturing armor per turn with even the shittiest weapons.Colette wrote:Technically, each of those red capes are worth 12 normal infantry because of its armor (As this is the number that is likely to yield one armored kill per turn).
If these guys were heavy infantry in a shield wall, then yes, they'd block attacks coming from the one side with their shields every time - this lets them ignore two damage dice from frontal attacks. On a frontal charge, only one in 36 minifigs with single-die damage output will manage to do damage at all by themselves. Fortunately there are charge attacks, automatic weapons, bigger weapons, and field hazards that can all deal much more than a single die of damage. Plus, you can always flank a shield wall, or punch a hole in it.

The Prospitians ate much less brikwar-sy than dersites so they will have a minor, and later role. And most of my white heads are in use with my Hollowed Army.
The 10 man comparison was mostly a boast and the for the fact that they all count as officers.

Nice army! The redcloaks are my favorites hands down.
Re: Mercenary Companies in the service of the Second Kingdo
Thanks! The five of them held off of 10 peaches and a hero even while they had an unintentional skill penalty.
