Black Sabbath
Judas Priest
Motorhead
Iron Maiden
Metallica
Megadeth
Anthrax

The current list is good, but we need the old guys to be acknowledged.

Hey take it easy. You don't just throw away random bands that you enjoy here. Besides, I still have to organize them correctly and write some stuff down. This is a combine project for all metalheads to participate in. So don't expect me to do everything.

I think vinnie vincent should be here. He hasn't released much material, but he can shred. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJ-GhxDUJDM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qx9AyFQ34rE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOHxRMNd99g

Also, I think Twisted Sister should be here. They do go a little too close to hard rock to be called metal in some cases, but some of their stuff is really metal.

No. Just being fast doesn't make you amazing. For example, Dragonforce is one of the fastest Power/Speed Metal bands out there and they don't come even close to making this list. Now, I'm not saying that this guy isn't good, but he lacks many components that the others have that make them must-haves for a list like this.

And again, no. Twisted Sister, while fun for a little bit, really lack much substance to their music. They were mainly popular for their "Anthem" type songs that get old really fast, which leads them down the road of "Pop Group" rather than "Metal God".

Actually, I was thinking of "I Wanna Rock" and "We're Not Gonna Take It"...

Ok. just so you know, I wanna rock and We're not gonna take it are in the album stay hungry, which was much more commercial than their other albums.

There's a distinct lack of Arch Enemy on the list. Too good to be missed!

I can't believe I forgot to mention this, but Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider did defend metal in the Supreme Court.

And he did so like a boss. I saw them twice and there's faaaar more to these guys than you can get from listening to their (dated) records.

Some bands missing here:
-Deep Purple:
Besides Burn and a few other songs, they aren't all that metal, but Highway Star is a staple of early metal, (covered by Metal Church, Chickenfoot, and Stryper to name a few) and they are also highly influential to metal as a whole.
-Van Halen:
The best guitarist in the world, and possibly the best metal frontman besides Dio and Ozzy. (even if he did steal his act from B.O.A)
Proof of metal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nq51q5me3P0
(also, you can look at this: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MohsScaleOfRockAndMetalHardness )
-Diamond Head
Incredibly influential to thrash metal, and one of the best NWOBHM bands.
-Gamma Ray
Really good power metal band, Brag voted for their lead singer/guitarist earlier so two votes for them
-Exodous
One of the first bands in the Bay Area Thrash Metal Scenes, also had Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammet in it during their early days.
-KISS
Before being called non metal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gw-SKPiuX8s
They were highly influential to stage shows in general, and Ace Frehley probably inspired half of all guitarists who started learning guitar after 1976.
-Pantera
Had one of the worlds best guitarists ever, no questions asked. (Even though their lead singer sucks, they're still pretty good)
-Quiet Riot
First metal band to get a number 1 album
-Steel Panther
Highly influential, and also revolutionary. (in all seriousness, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5ZCs9jHo60 )
-Watch Tower
Highly influential progressive metal band, (and one of the first) also inspired Dream Theater.

Well, that was a big dump. :twss:

I'd probably say that only Pantera and Diamond Head are worth consideration from that group.
