Well Ham did cause an interesting discussion on writing with this thread, so I don't think we should judge him too harshly.

Now, about how to do it right:

The most memorable part of Border Patrol to me was Harkins fighting horrors on the ship. Harkins is easy to relate to; he gets shocked by the weird stuff he faces, but he still fights because he has to. When the focus is on him in the ship corridors it's very personal. That is the kind of thing you couldn't easily put in a forum battle.

Remus: Well yes, but I don't see how that applies here.
