The olympics

Post by muffinman42 » Sun Jul 29, 2012 6:11 pm

Why is there no thread for this?

Opening Ceremony (4 hours!)
MY thoughts:
Holy fucking balls this is epic.
Very politically correct history...

WHY ARE THERE DRUMS DURING THE SILENCE TO REMEMBER THE MILLIONS WHO DIED IN WW1 AND WW2!

Wow. That's just. WOW.

(30 minute mark)

Did Her Majesty the Queen and James Bond Just parachute into the stadium...

The Queen looks ecstatic to be there (probably pissed that it was a stunt double)

*speechless at awesomeness of GOSH+NHS+Children's story section*
(actual GOSH patients!)

... was that an army of Mary Poppins fighting a fifty foot Voldamort?

From there it goes down hill... but is still rather awesome.
Kerbal Rocketry(my youtube with actual videos on it!)

Muffinman aka. second account of Tahthing. Not technically troll account, as it was made out of shame.

They had David Bowie & Annie Lennox songs after that, so it wasn't completely downhill, and Paul McCartney closed the ceremony in the best way possible. that and Actual existent real fireworks.

I watched it for a bit, but I had to leave when the people with butterfly wings on bicycles came out. I was too high for such weirdness.

Yes, I imagine many people on this forum are allergic to sports.

FUCKING

NBC

would not stop talking, assumed their entire audience was idiots, ("And here's Sir Tim Berners-Lee. If you don't know what he did, we don't either! Oh, it says he invented the internet, how about that") refused to livestream in favor of adding an entire half hour to the length for commercials, and cut out a portion in the dead center of the games, which was in memory of the victims of the '05 London bombings, because NBC THOUGHT THAT IT WASN'T APPROPRIATE FOR THEIR AMERICAN AUDIENCE. You know what they did instead? SHOWED THAT INANE INTERVIEW WITH PHELPS.
"We are live streaming every sporting event, all 32 sports and 302 medals," an NBC spokesman wrote in an email to Show Tracker. "It was never our intent to live stream the Opening Ceremony or Closing Ceremony. They are complex entertainment spectacles that do not translate well online because they require context, which our award-winning production team will provide for the large prime-time audiences that gather together to watch them."
The events themselves are edited around NBC's trivial pursuit and pushed back to primetime slots, not livestreamed. If you don't have cable, you can't watch any events online. Any alternatives? Illegal.

They paid a billion dollars for the right to show America a joke.

I mean maybe I've gotten worked up over this but for fuck's sake you guys

this is what I get for watching television once every two years

The Swedish crew did an admirable job, being well informed and explaining what needed to be explained for a non-British audience, and otherwise shutting up. No commercial breaks either, since it was broadcast by our commie state television.

:troll: but also truth.

I am envious. Announcers rarely enhance whatever they're covering. Why do they feel the need to constantly spout inane drivel?

And everyone else who's made at the US stations, what the hell were you expecting? Most of the US news stations are politician. If you have a halfway decent cable TV package, you should get the BBC. That's where i watched it.

Those weren't butterfly wings.
Image
For you not to recognize the pattern you must of been watching a very low quality stream.
However various close ups clearly displayed the wings flapping in bird-like fashion. Your computer could not of had a display much smaller than 800x600 unless you refuse to buy a new monitor despite the low cost

Image
So you must either have a TV from the dawn of TV.
However recently television has switched to Digital, rendering TV's from more than a few year's ago completely obsolete.

Image
SO One must conclude, Mr Pwnerade, That you do not know the difference between a bird and a butterfly.

Michael Phelps being dethroned by Ryan Lochte. That's all the drama I need this summer.

Also, Missy Franklin is awesome.
