Oh boy, going to buy some Kre-O.. I'm split on them. Some of the bricks are pretty great (1x1 round stud that's hollow and with studs on the top and bottom? genius!), however the figures are less than impressive in multiple regards, including skewed torso print and weird hands. I have the Battleship line assault pack (which I would actually recommend for some of their interesting bricks, but a warning, that alien is horr-i-ble) and the Megatron set. I wasn't crazy about them but I didn't hate them either. The minifigure style worked a bit better with the inorganic Transformers than with the actual humans, who all look like Duke Nukem with those massive manjawlines. My final opinion is that they're worth looking at, but the money could be better spent on other brands.

My first construction brick set was the Blok Bots that Mega Bloks sold in the early 2000s. They always fell to pieces whenever you moved any of their limbs.
Then I got into Lego, and immediately noticed a change in quality.

A few years later, I bough the Mega Bloks Halo Warthog. It stays together easier, but I still had some problems with it. The pieces still don't quite fit together properly, but they stay in place well enough. The figures are still pretty crappy, though. They have elbows and knees, but they still have pretty crappy articulation. And it's a pain in the ass to fit them into their vehicles.

I never bought megabloks because i prefer having smaller pieces for mocing and i like to have consistency in my bins and not have to sort through two different brands. The new megabloks starcraft sets look pretty cool and i might pick one up just for display. Its sad to say but the quality of megabloks isn't far off from Lego now and that's not because megabloks has gotten better.

Fair enough.

Aaaaaaand inconsistency. How could you possibly know that?
As somebody who's owned Mega Bloks' older stuff, I can tell you for a fact that's not true. Mega Bloks have improved in quality over the years. But they're still not as good as Lego.

I remember the Mega Bloks dragons line. Great dragons and figs, horrible builds. I would often get sets and look around on Ebay just for the dragons and figures. But those days are long gone...

Yeah, saw one of those old sets in a Stuff store in some kind of bag...

They wanted like, $40 for the thing...

Also saw an OLD ass Lego set, at least from the 70's if not earlier, in its original box!
Thing was even filled with a bunch of little plastic bins...

The year that line came out, I think I bought the entire line and it only cost $40. The dragons have served as kitchen decorations ever since.

Had some great old timey wheels and swivels though...

Yeah, definitely not worth it, considering the entire thing was in one of those odd, square, zippered plastic bags you get shit like furniture covers in...

I think what has happened is that MegaBlox still uses the same shitty plastic they always did, but their injection machines and QA have improved.

Ah, the common misconception. Show him the AC, it usually changes their minds. Not that they'll admit it, but the look on people's faces who disapprove of Brikwars when they see that thing is just marvelous.

Nooo, he would still dismiss it as the work of some looser with way to much time on their hands...
