RIN Armory Update

Post by Robot Monkey » Wed Aug 29, 2012 7:25 pm

Time for some updates!

Image
First up, here's my take on Kommander Alec in his Dreadnought armor from Collette's story, "Death of The Alliance"

It also has a working claw.

Now for some story:
After the death of Kommander Alec, His second in command, a general known simply as "The Man in The Top Hat" was quickly elected to be the new Kommander. With his new leadership, the RIN quickly redirected it's science efforts from "immortality machines" that Alec had so desperately wanted, to working on perfecting the enigmatic RT-based hover teknology. With a good majority of the RIN's scientists put to work on this cause, a new version of the RIN jetbike was built. Named the "Fury" by the new Kommander himself, these jetbikes made it to the mass-production stage incredibly fast. The Kommander himself is pictured here riding one, alongside a very excited pilot.

Image
The RIN "Fury" Jetbikes are armed with one laser repeater, one small shield projector, and a MK3 "havoc" rocket.

Image
In addition to the "Fury" jetbikes being built, another hovering vehicle was introduced: a heavy-duty Combat Speeder. These Combat Speeders hover higher off the ground than the Jetbikes, making the pilots less vulnerable to small arms fire.

Image
it is armed with two MK3 laser cannons, and one pintle-mounted machine gun.

Image
The RIN had always been lacking in the flyer department, and RIN engineers had found difficulty utilizing RT for flying purposes. However, with the recent leaps forward in hover teknology, the RIN was able to produce a small Reconnaisance fighter named the "Hornet".

Image

Image
It is not intended to be a heavy duty fighter, it is only armed with 2 autocannons for attacking other small aircraft.

So, what do you guys think?

The combat speeder is genius and something that needs to be mass produced, the Dreadnought is really cool looking, and the hornet and fury hoverbike are cool too.
This sig is too fucking large: show anyway

Do you ever plan on making a squad or two of regular footsoldiers? Your MOCs are great and all, but your stuff is really hard to represent in battle reports and stuff.

Wow. Alec looks incredibly awesome, even more so than I imagined. He should stay as a centerpiece of your army for a long time.

Thanks guys!

As for basic footsoldiers, I simply don't have the parts on hand to make a squad, and all my money is going to 40K, so a briklink order probably isn't going to happen soon.
I'm really happy how the Combat Speeder came out, it was very much inspired by a 40K Land Speeder.
Also, I'm just as suprised as Collette that I managed to finally build a fighter jet. Those things are a bitch to build.

I like the style of the dreadnought, but it is a bit hard to look at. Maybe the pictures could be better if the background was less cluttered?

Yeah - that dreadnought has by far the MOST style and personality I have seen from any on the forum thus far - what you really need to do is get a decent A1 sized piece of card and set up a proper area for yourself to take Moc photography in.

Yes - I have been preaching this a lot lately, don't worry - I will be sticking to my own rules. :rtfm:

The dreadnought is pretty "busy", and there's a lot to look at without a metric arse-load of cables in the background, perhaps just put it on a worktop or get a ton of paper and spread it all over the place? Still, awesome stuff.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paper_size

In the USA if you asked a random person for a piece of paper you would probably get a "Letter" size 8.5"x11".

In my job as an architectural designer I always use D size 24"x36" paper.
Although in the past I have used C 18x24 and E 36x48 sizes.

No trains were harmed while making this post.
