New desk, a SHIP, and a diorama!

Post by halo 3000 » Sun Aug 26, 2012 7:45 pm

Hey guys!

Got a desk yesterday 99% dedicated to Lego building!

Image

I love the lights, I can move them where ever I want, and it gives the room a good color.

Image

The desk is huge, and its much better than sitting in the floor.

Image

Here is the SHIP. Not minifig scale, so i'm not sure it counts as a true SHIP. I'm taking it apart, because it was just siting on my dresser.

I built it around a year ago, but I'm just now taking pictures of it. Its not my design either. I saw this on brickshelf;

Image

and decided I wanted to build one. all credit goes to martinbb. here is his brickshelf; http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/galle ... m=martinbb

Image

Lots of stuff here. You see I built a jaguar. I got inspired to build this outpost after reading this article; http://www.abellon.net/MILS/index.html

Clean slate. I didn't have enough green, so I thought that melting snow would work. I like the way it came out. I kinda rushed though.

the bottom. Now time to take apart that beautiful waste of parts.

I think you should update this thread every once in a while with just a few pics of this desk and what's on it. Those pics were awesome.

For some reason, I never really thought setting up in a corner would be any better than against one wall. Looking at these pictures, I can see how much easier it would be to manage all of your projects. Now you've got me wanting a corner desk.

I like it, wish I had similar MOCing setup. I just dump all my bricks on the carpet and go mental.

I used to have to sit on the floor. Really hurt my knees and back. No organization either. Took me a while to build things too. I haven't been able to take the ship apart yet. I'm at my college right now. Once I get home though, it's comming apart.

I have a table in my basement that I use for forum battles and some building, but a lot of times I just use the floor to avoid the stairs.

Honestly I like your ship more than his. The term SHIP applies to anything more than 100 studs in length - i might be wrong, but i'm pretty sure it doesn't have anything to do with scale.

Good work!

Thanks! I loved it. pretty to look at, but very part heavy. I took it apart and got around 50 light grey 1x2 bricks among other things.

I got my 44 drawer cabinets in the mail today. Started some organization.

Image

A little hard to see, but you get the picture. I probably wont sort all of my parts at one time, but I will just look through more bins when I start running low on certain pieces

Image

here's the desk as of now. you can see some of the stuff i'm working on back there...

I have 2 of the cabinets, but I still haven't filled the first one yet.

Ugh, can't say that I'm a fan of upright drawers...

...Mostly because we had something like that full of screws out here in the office before one of the cults ended up knocking it down and smashing the entire thing...

My father bought one of these:

A Husky 22" cantilever professional organizer.
Arguably he wanted use it as a fishing tackle-box (Like he'd ever organize anything!), but I think it'd make a nice mobile Brikwar kit like so:

On the building side of things, I've not only got my old block table pictured in Recovery, but also my father's nice (if rarely used) pool-table with it's crappy ping-pong cover and the old dinning room table with all the leaves in it for when we host Thanksgiving.
