Oh, man, if only.
In my time here, we've had 4. One was the comic shop I went to growing up that later widened its selection to include games. He closed the store some years ago to run it online. We had a bookstore/gaming shop where I learned to play 40K. That guy closed his store because he was afraid of Y2K. We had a comic shop/game shop open up for about a year or so before the owner, ironically an accountant, ran it into the ground. A business partner and I made an offer on that store but he wanted too much. The last lasted a year or two before it crashed and burned. Richmond has a pretty low gamer population.
Closest game stores to Richmond (that I know of) are in Muncie, Anderson, and Indy in Indiana, and Dayton (or thereabouts) in Ohio. As of now, though, I'd have to get back to you on when I can drive that far. Other than that...I recently met a guy (friend of a friend) who works at Hastings and wants to run some games there. Way back when I worked there, we ran stuff like MageKnight on the weekends so it's entirely possible he could get that up and running very soon. If he does, and I can finangle it, we might try that?
Let me know what you think. If we have to put it off for a better time, that's ok too.
