Its already strong constant wind with big gusts and periodic heavy rain.
And its not even here yet.

Manhattan is boned.

They're making it seem like a huge deal up here in Toronto, but I doubt we'll be hit very hard.

My drive up to Ontario sucked because of it... dumped rain on me for literally hundreds of miles.

As the forum's resident New Yorker, I have the misfortune of living pretty close to the ocean. Surprisingly enough, everything is fine! Even my friends in greenpoint haven't evacuated, although their water drains are flooded.

All I've really done was move all of our shit out of the basement and into the guest room, and nailed some plywood over our balcony so that we don't have to pay a bazillion dollars to replace it if some flying debris breaks it.

RoC, you are now obligated to have a Shackburger with me in December.

I got a nice automated phone call from Comcast, then an email explaining what to expect.
This was at the end.

We hope you and your family remain safe during this weather occurrence.

Sincerely,

"weather occurrence"

Was what I found funny.
They didn't want to call it a storm that might knock out power to 8 million people.

The power here flickered for a millisecond once in the afternoon but never went out.
My battery back up handled it easy.

The worst of the storm is over here, and all that happened was flickering lights, slow internet, and spotty cell coverage. I don't have school for a whole week thanks to Sandy!

central maryland took a pretty direct hit, but it was just a bit of a breeze and a little rain. only a few trees down in the neighborhood and cell service is buggered. got to stay home from work on days i was going to be in a training session out of work to begin with, so it wasnt too bad, granted, i wanted to take the class. oh well, lol.
