I think the bigger surprise to me was the amount of money they purchased it for. Only $4 billion? That's a steal!

http://nooooooooooooooo.com/ My friend told me today! I was fucking pissed (that's right, first time swearing on the forum) and, STAR WARS EPISODE 7 planned for 2015. If it is heavily EU book influenced, then it may turn out okay, but otherwise... who wants to go to Skywalker Ranch for a "visit" with me?

Disney sucks and will probably juniorize it the way Lucas did, but it would be really hard for them to make it stupid to the same extent as Lucas. This might be a plus for the franchise.

Yeah, maybe Disney will release the original films unmolested on DVD!

Well, George always said that he wanted Star Wars to last long beyond his time for future generations. Selling the franchise to disney is certainly a way to ensure that. I personally don't think that they will ruin the franchise, as Disney is one of the few companies that knows that a good storyline is essential to producing a lasting series of films rather than just rehashing the same stuff over and over with new faces in a way that other companies do. I think it might be a good thing for Star Wars in a way. Disney is more child-oriented, but I'm certain that they can produce something that appeals to adults. Who knows, maybe we'll get to see Tony Stark blast Jar Jar into oblivion. ( :belushi: )

Only one question: does this now make Leia a disney princess?

I at least hope that Episode VII will be EU influenced, maybe based around the Thrawn crisis or the reborn emperor. It will suck if Disney decides to ignore EU and go with their own concept; then my hopes will be ruined.

The theory I heard is that the scripts for 7-9 were used to make the early books and games. So if they go with those, yeah, you could draw some similarities with the EU.

Personally, the only thing I would even think of seeing would be a movie version of when Luke turns to the dark side (it was a comic book series).

So yeah, go and fuck up the franchise, unless they make an actually good sequel, my star wars ended at VI (Or III, whatever.)

If Pixar got to make the new Star Wars, then I have the utmost confidence that they can make a better series than the original.

You mean Clone Wars animated? I liked the mando episodes (Deathwatch are awesome) but hated the rest of the series (Siege in the movie though... :omnom: )

I'm still hoping that someday they'll make something really epic.

I don't mean like the CG animated series. I'm talking about the guys who have made one or two bad movies tops (I haven't seen either of the Cars movies). Pixar always makes thoughtful characters and really awesome plots with all sorts of references to other films that are fun to look for.
