Yeah, I saw a part of cars 1, hated the crap out of it.

Pixar is great; WALL-E was actually my favorite of the ones I have seen.

I actually hope they don't stick too closely to source material, and that they give SW a bit of a revamp. The prequels weren't fantastic movies, but they brought about some really interesting ships and characters. Sure, it had a completely different atmosphere, but why would anyone want to watch three more Star Wars movies if they were the exact same as the others? I know that Lucas has already written the scripts for the next three movies (so I've heard), but I hope Disney puts their own twist on things to actually add to the series. I'll be pissed if it's all just straight-from-the-book EU stuff. Those stories have already been done, give us some more material.

As for being juniorized, I think that's a load of crap. PotC was about dirty, rum-drinking, ship-stealing pirates. They showed ships getting ripped apart by cannons, people being attacked by a giant sea monster, and people turning into skeletons in the moonlight. In a live-action movie. If they can do that, they can do Star Wars.

I have watched starwars since I was 6 years old, and there was a point where it may as well have been crack. you can't destroy a childhood, but by god you can obscure memories. the day disney makes starwars episode 7: I might just cry. I don't know if I can bring myself to see it. Marvel was one thing, but I loved starwars before I really got into comics. Is this really what Walt Disney wanted? to make a mega-corporation that barely resembles the beginning? Disney has for the most part let marvel do their thing, but kick starting the next starwars is another thing. Oh, and don't say disney knows how to sell a story. ever heard of That's so raven? or camp rock? Yeah, that's what I thought. guys, if disney's current goal is to walk around buying companies, I don't know what to think. What if they got nintendo? It's been a long time since THX.

As long as Disney helps fund the live action 1940s inspired criminal/bounty hunter show I'll be really happy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_live-action_TV_series. Episode 7 would suck no matter who made it, probably. I remember Lucas said the idea he originally had was to have Luke become sort of an Obi-Wan figure for the next generation of Jedi. If they can somehow make 3 movies about that I'd be super surprised, honestly.

The problem is that those three movies would look a lot like the few dozen books there are about that.

I thought they would be about like Grand Admiral Thrawn and the resurrection of the emperor and the newer super star destroyer.

I'm just going off something I saw in one of those Star Wars documentaries. In the 70s his idea was 9 movies the first 3 are Anakin and his fall, the next 3 are Luke redeeming his dad and the last 3 are Luke becoming a master. Like a cycle of life thing, maybe. I'm sure his ideas changed since then.

Anyway Lucas has also said "After RotJ the Sith are gone forever and the Dark Side of the Force destroyed. I guess he's going to have to re-neg on that one now, though.

If I remember correctly, Lucas based the story off a book called something like "10000 Heroes" where they discuss how almost every ancient story has a very similar process to which it plays out. The Rise and Fall and then the Redemption. It also suggests that the story of Jesus was derived from an accumulation of many different stories, taking the best parts from each.

They may just pull Ressurection of the Emperor off, if they put Mecha in it.
That'd be like Starwars + Gundam Mobile Suit 0
Sounds like win.

Most of the Expanded Universe bullshit I've seen is extremely erratic and dumb (the Emperor being reborn, wtf?), I hope they don't stick to it. It would be great to see the Old Guard again though, even if they don't get to play a major role. Also, it HAS to be live action. No animated bullshit please.

Most of the early expanded universe is random crap, but if you bother to sit down and read the books, they actually created a coherent storyline.

Yeah, I have calmed down a bit now about it. I've decided that instead of hating, I'm just gonna be excited about it. Honestly, its STAR WARS!! The 2nd thing to stay with me till I was grown up (Batman being the first by the way). I changed my mind whilst talking with my friend, this is pretty much how the conversation went:

Friend: Dude! Shut up! Both of us know that you're going to be waiting in line to see it, don't you deny it!

Me: Well, yeah, I guess so, but that's because I'm a Star Wars fan, I gotta support it no matter... who... owns.. it... Shit.

So yeah, I'm kinda excited about it, but apparently it won't have any EU inspiration in it, or at least that's what I've heard
