[HH] The massacre of Nova Colonia
This battle was played on 10/24/12 with a friend of mine at his place using 2005 rules.
When a bunch of Deadly Spacemen stranded on Nova Colonia several G.R.s ago they quickly learned that here, like in many medieval parts of the Brikverse, advanced teknology just does not work. They adapted quickly though and set out to conquer all of Nova Colonia when their ferocity attracted the attention of an evil nekromancer called The Wraith. He brought the Deadly Spacemen many gifts and they had at first much profit from his friendship. Before long he betrayed and corrupted them turning the Deadly Spacemen into foul and undead beings ever bound to his will alone. Much evil was brought on Nova Colonia since then and many were the vain attempts at routing him from the castle the Deadly Spacmen had build for him. In Nova Colonia evil has no boundaries it seems.
But manyfold are the heros of the Brikverse and after taking part in two successful campaigns on Medivo Apollyon was looking for quest and adventure in other places. Nova Colonia is as good a place as any so he decided to valiantly lead a host of Falkon knights against The Wraith and his Corrupted Spacemen:
An Overwatch of the battlefield to be. The siege machines are leftovers from former battles.
A closer look at villainous The Wraith in front of his castle.
Opposing him is the champion of light, Apollyon.
Corrupted Spacemen starting positions.
Apollyon and his Falkon host.

Re: [HH] The massacre of Nova Colonia
The Falkons move first.
In response the Corrupted Spacemen repositin and advance carefully.
Next turn, Apollyon tries to fire the abandoned cannon which is conveniently placed opposite of The Wraith.
Unfortunately he fails and the shot is a dud.
The Corrupted Spacemen mock the hero's failure and clap swords against their shields in order to intimidate their opponents.
Next the evil hero summons a foul wind that engulfs the Falkon swordmen and prevents them from doing anything
for their turn.

Re: [HH] The massacre of Nova Colonia
Falkon cavalry charges towards the opposing side's cavalry (which was cunningly split in the setup phase).
In the centre tactival maneuvering continues as noone wants to be charged first/end up as targets for ranged weapons.
Apollyon goes for another feat involving the battering ram but his steed Betty is not Trotsky and prefers
to eat some flowers instead of pushing it towards the castle. Another feat failed.
First blood! The evil archers aim for the knights but fail to hit. A stray shot kills a wandering spider however.
The mounted Corrupted Spasemen take no prisoners however and kill two swordmen.
It's a bloody mess really.

Re: [HH] The massacre of Nova Colonia
And more blood is spilled once the cavalry meets.
The Wraith befouls the crossbowmen preventing them from taking any shots.
They manage to retreat for now. Instead some of the hellbardies get slaughtered by the yellow dudes.
The Falkon swordmen fail miserably at killing the evil knights.
Two spearmen mount the horses of the fallen knights. Surely 4 vs 1 means the white knight will succumb quickly?
This picture is going to be put next to "abysmal dice rolling" in the dictionary.

Re: [HH] The massacre of Nova Colonia
Apollyon is determined to turn the tide of the battle in an Indiana Jones like rodeo moment...
Once again Betty proves to lack the intelligence of other well known brick equii.
Three failed feats in a row.
Red swordspacemen almost reach the crossbowmen.
While evil knights kill another swordman.
The crossbowmen kill two swordmen thanks to ad hoc "point blank" rules.

Re: [HH] The massacre of Nova Colonia
And the yellow guys dispatch the remaining hellbardiers without taking casualities of their own.
Apollyon got up and the crossbowmen are now beset by the mounted knights. (The evil red swordmen bailed from the charge)
Why would the yellow guys kill one of the poor stray horses?
Because the evil nekromancer wants more minions!
Random Overwatch midbattle.
In this not so random Overwatch you see that the evil white knight with help from the red archers
killed two of his assailants.

Re: [HH] The massacre of Nova Colonia
At this point with Apollyon unhorsed and more than half of his host slaughtered things are looking grim.
A spearman decapitates a knight at least.
And the crossbowmen kill the other one! Is this the turning point?
Apollyon cries: "Dracharis"
He summons a dragon!
The dragon lands next to him.
Our hero mounts it and together they take flight.

Re: [HH] The massacre of Nova Colonia
By now my friend had figured out the beauty of squad buffs and put a spell on his bowmen. Note the feat rolls...
Won't anything work in this battle?
The badass yellow axemen kill another Falkon.
Crossbowmen avenge their fallen comrade.
Apollyon tries to push forward to The Wraith like Aragorn would mow down a bunch of Uruk-Hai but gets stuck.
Well, he kills one at least.

Re: [HH] The massacre of Nova Colonia
The axemen come down on the crossbowmen.
And together with the skeletal rider they massacre them.
Apollyon claws his way towards The Wraith.
The Wraith tries some entropomancy which would have turned Apollyon's mighty sword into rust.
Instead he drops his own sword.
Apollyon picks up the blade...
...while all evil units in Nova Colonia now converge upon him.

Re: [HH] The massacre of Nova Colonia
Wielding two heroic blades Apollyon leaps.
And bisects The Wraith!
Bereft of the evil will that controlled them all of the Corrupted Spacemen drop their weapons and the battle is over.
All of his host have died yet once more evil has been thwarted by Apollyon.
We made more pictures which i have not used in this report. You can check them out in my Brickshelf folder http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=515726 once it got moderated.

There's simply nothing like a hero victorious despite the slaughter of all his (or her) men.
A truly excellent battle Apollyon. And galaxy patrol armor as medieval armor is not something I would have thought of.

Re: [HH] The massacre of Nova Colonia
Thank you. The galaxy patrol armor is just too good not to use it out of a space marine concept (and the excellent torso print is too good to cover it with armor).Rev.
