After much consideration, I have decided that I should probably change up my army so that it isn't clone troopers and such. I'm still gonna keep my vehicles and Star Wars backstory, but I"m gonna replace my troops... well most of them anyways. So, that leads to my question, where would be the best place to buy bulk Minifigs of sorts. I'd guess ebay, but is there anywhere else that you guys know of?

I'd say Ebay or Bricklink are your best bets. I've gotten some pretty good deals on Ebay and you probably can find some decent deals on Bricklink if you find the right store.

Alright, I looked around thanks. I have 2 things now.

1. After looking around, I found some stuff I think would look cool, but does it still look to much like Star Wars?

-Body, Arms and Legs of this guy-

2. I'm building a Hover Tank, but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do for the bottom of it. If pics are needed, I can try to get them.

It would look like Star Wars, but it would also look cool in my opinion.

If you want a really cool army you must first think of an idea.

If you can't think of an idea you need my help.

Roll a d6 twice, and then add the results from both columns.

COLUMN 1 COLUMN 2
1 Space Nuns
2. Piltogg Pirates
3. Post-Apoc Rastafarians
4. Cthulu cult Ninjas
5. Steampunk Your average space empire with a million planets
6. Turkish Communists

Well if it looks cool, but while keeping a Star Wars vibe, then I think I may go with that then.

I make hover tanks like normal tanks but with hover engines instead of treads (for example, my USA tank could probably be fitted with normal treads without much effort). The only difference is that the hover tank should be more curvy and experiment with some exotic round shapes like my Apple tank.

Of course, this is just what I do. The best hovertanks just take the whole modern tank design and throw it out the window, examples including Scythe's Orpheus SHDT, blackdog's triangle-shaped SHDT, and my Space Näzi flying saucer M-B-T. Fredde's and the Luchardsko SHDTs combine the above two approaches- they look like a modern tank somewhat in shape but still experiment with some different methods.

Alright, thanks, I'll keep all that in mind. I think I'm gonna do what you did for your USA tank for the hover tech.

Basically, I fell for the pitfall of having a box with engines underneath and went through about 4 re-designs, both IRL and LDD before settling on this design which I am most happy with - incrementing the design with technic build techniques, a longer hull and more internal support while expanding on its in game roll - which is basically to be a high tech teir glass cannon.

It flies the fuck about as fast as most other armies flyers/fighters, it carries 20 troops to drop absolutely fucking anywhere and shit on anyones chips as needed, and its main weapons are designed to absolutely and utterly reaptrain the hell out of other SDT's.

Yes it has shields in the fluff, but in the crunch, they wouldn't be anywhere near as tough as I sell them off to be in my army thread - as I said, it's a glass cannon split between the roles of -

- Fast as fuck speed
- Godkillingfirepower
- Troop capacity

Which means most of its time in game will be spent as a glorified sniper on rocket skates, blamming the hell out of the enemy and then running away before it then gets pinned and obliterated.

In terms of your own army however - I would recommend sitting down and having a good hard think about what it is you want your SHDT to do - are we talking about a slow moving brick of Armour and guns? B52 style? or a fast moving glass cannon with a possible secondary use? Or a floating troop carrier that only deals light damage but shrugs off most hits, and literally rolls into the enemy while vomiting troops left, right and center?

Image

On top of this, does it fit your army style? And your play style to boot? You gotta consider this as well to make sure everything plays out your way.

Best of luck to yee dude, I look forward to seeing what you put out there. :D
FUCK YOU WARHEAD.

I don't want to dissapoint, but its not a SHDT, its just a regular tank that hovers instead of having treads.
This is a work in progress shot:

Yeah, the problem I'm having on it is that the bottom is just a flat plate, and I was wondering what do do to make it look better on the bottom.

If I ever do build something like that though, I'll keep that all in mind. Thanks for the long response, too.

A cheap way to make the bottom work would be to add triangular sloop pieces.

I was thinking that, but I'm gonna have to check that I have enough pieces, which I"m pretty sure I don't.
