Why? Seriously, have some pride in your new country. Her Majesty and our ties to Britain are what influences a lot of our culture and gives Canada her own unique identity. IMO the monarchy is one of the things Canadians should care about the least. She lives in England and Canada is its own country now, it doesn't need her. We don't need some kind of armed revolt, it is just weird that she is important. I guess my main beef with her is she looks like an old bag and she is on every single piece of money. They could use some more flattering pictures from when she was younger, if she ever didn't look like a train wreck.

I also have a different family history though. My father's side was British-Canadians who came here in the late 1800's, but they became loyal to Canada not the whole of the British Empire. My mom's parents however came here as refugees from WWII, so with them there is not a deep sense of loyalty to the British side of things, just loyalty to the country that took them in.

If these are the events I think they are, some British redcoats killed some disgruntled Canadians, then decided to go on a rampage where they murdered everyone they could, stole all their possessions and (I think) burned down the area, so you might want to leave that out when you're dishing out the royalism.

Anyway, I'm going to stop talking about the monarchy now, before this thread (which normally has a certain "watchability") is derailed into a politics debate.

I'm talking about two incidents, one in upper Canada and one in lower Canada where the redcoats put down two badly organized rebellions and sent the prisoners to Penal Australia.

Also neither Brag nor Natalya really understands the purpose of a figurehead. They must always represent their countries accurately. For example Emperor Hirohito wore a fedora after Japan was conquered by the USA to signify the friendship between both countries.

I will say, however, that people like Silva who are all like 'ohh I like my queen, I'm proud of her' are self-delusional. She doesn't care about you. At all. How do I give her money? I don't even pay taxes. Yes, the royal family has screwed Canada over a few times (like with Butcher Haig), but our ties to Britain were part of what stopped the USA from enacting War Plan Red, and much of our early greatness can be attributed to the British Empire. I am not self-delusional and would like you to stop relying on ad-hominem attacks to get your weak points across.
