January 21 Forum Member Brikwar: Rev vs lawmaster, Part 2

Post by Rev. Sylvanus » Fri Jan 25, 2013 12:54 am

Part 1 of the battle having been sufficiently derailed and not wanting any serious readers to have to wade through vacuous pages to find another set of turns that would not fit in the OP, here is part 2 of lawmaster and Rev. Sylvanus' brikwar that occurred on January 21. We continue our tale on Turn 4.

Turn 4 - Rev.

Image

The OOF APC on the right flank guns down several specialists whom lawmaster had planned to sabotage the rolling armor.

Image

From off-screen, a rocket incinerates yet another knight while an Urban Commando engages in CC with one of the smart horses.

Image

This shot reveals a number of things. First, my sniper puts paid to lawmaster's mechanik who was riding the golem. Secondly, you can see some of the construction projects the mechanik undertook: making a little cage for the OOF sergeant and a free-standing turret.

Image

The OOF speeder zooms up but only slays one dude with his arcing fire.

Image

On the leftmost flank, an Alltimate hardsuit either fires a rocket at the Trovian infantry, or rapid-fires into them. Long story shot, several kick the bucket.

Image

Also kicking the bucket, the leftmost APC (which is nearly weaponless now) speeds into a Trovian grenadier. He does not survive.

Image

In the center, another surviving hardsuit slices up a rifleman.

Image

Meanwhile, two freedom fighters pop out of the weaponless APC and begin shooting into the fray.

Turn 4 - lawmaster

Image
achievement unlocked
Badass Hero

lawmaster's hero initiates a feat to attack everyone around him; this leaves a massive swath of death in his midst.

Image

Random pic? Don't know what I was going for here...golem shooting the APC? Looks like nothing really happened.

Image

So, um, yeah...lawmaster is a sneaky little dude. He likes to litter the battlefield with explosives and animals that he can use to his advantage! Unbeknownst to me, his mechanik shoved a bunch of explosives into my Sergeant's cage...the bombs blow, but the sergeant's armor roll is sufficient to absorb the damage.

Image

Several Trovians engage in CC with my final surviving Commando. Attacks flub.

Image

And from somewhere, lawmaster chucks another explosive at this hardsuit. Not enough damage, either...

Image

On the extreme left flank, Rev's APC crew is reduced by one. Only one soldier left plus the driver.

Image

Also on the left flank, the Sea Monster chomps down on a stranded Heavy.

Image

As his final deed for turn 4, lawmaster takes pot-shots at the speeder pilot. The pilot does not survive.

Turn 5 - Rev.

Image

Becoming a little bit desperate at this point, the APC on the right flank pumps lawmaster's hero full of lead!

Image

And a nearby hardsuit downs a few horses.

Image

This perspective shot did not work too well, but the OOF sniper eliminates another Trovian soldier.

Image

The leftmost hardsuit swings up the hill to shoot down on his opponents; I think all of the attacks whiff, though...

Image

Image

These shots are maybe out of order??? Here we see lawmaster's Sea Monster drill-tailing the heck out of yet another Alltimate Knight :(

Image

This hardsuit over here is trying to take care of some horse problems...

Turn 5 - lawmaster

Image

Oh, wait...we are clearly into lawmaster's turn now (and maybe the last few photos too...). The Trovian sniper crit-failed a few times, falling from the tower to his lonesome doom.

Image

A pile of death on the right flank. The last OOF infantry on this side of the field have been eliminated.

Image

This photo needs a little explaining. lawmaster's medik is still alive. The medik actually makes it to the Trovian hero. The medik Ker-Triage's on an 8. The hero pops back up and uses his awesome feats to climb onto the APC and sever the hinges on the upper doors. Several soldiers inside die.

Turn 6 - Rev

Image

It is getting down to the wire now; on the left flank, the driver of the APC jumps out with his Tesla Gun and evaporates the mortar soldier.

Image

Still a lucky bastard, this last-remaining commando disengages from combat and rapid-fires into his assailants. One or two are dispatched.

Image

On the right flank, a soldier from inside the APC leaps up to shove the Trovian hero off of the APC.

Image

He is shoved into the bosom of the golem, yet when the miniguns open fire, the nearby medik red-shirts for the hero. Bummer...

Turn 6 (Final Turn) - lawmaster

The Tesla soldier on the leftmost APC is knifed.

Image

The soldier standing on the other APC is picked off by a pilot(?) who snatched up some guns.

Image

More incredible feats by the Trovian hero. He throws his energy weapon like a boomerang, severing two Alltimate Hardsuits at the waist. They are reduced to size 1" and immobile as a result (effectively non-threats now!).

Image

And the last OOF commando is finally run down!

Aftermath and Endgame

Image

The game was called here. The hobby shop we were meeting at was closing soon and, honestly, I had very few forces left: 2 damaged hardsuits and a driver in an APC. lawmaster's forces seemed still relatively robust, including his Sea Monster and Hero - both of whom liked to destroy everything they touched 8)

Great match and a lot of fun, even if we had to drive through inclement weather to make it happen. Hope ya'll enjoyed this edition of Rev's Battle Reports.

All the best,
Rev.

The gun my hero was using could fire off either one of its cc equipment, he would have to pick the up but I never used it for ranged though. Also the "pilot" is my heavy, he is fond to reloading every time he could.

Damn, your knight hardsuits just got whacked. And they used to do so well.

The floating ostridge and rampaging sea monster were my favourite bits. I had no idea what was going on and no idea what they were fighting over, thus, Great battle.

Two of the eight (three if you count the one who just lost a rocket pod) blew themselves up before causing any damage, so yeah, that hurts. But the hardsuits (as well as the minotaurs in my barbarian army) have taken stat reductions to make them less OP. But as is often the case, less OP can sometimes mean too UP, lol.

Rule of thumb: if it's awesome enough, it can be OP.
