Everything I know about interstellar space travel tells me that it is nearly impossible. At least, not with our current conceptions of how it would work.pkbrennan wrote:Yes, there are a lot of factors we have to take into account, but that is half the fun - working out how to do something we just are not doing yet. I am looking forwards to the day when future generations will fly amongst the stars, even though I will never live to see it.

They still don't know how to create exotic matter with a negative mass or how the Casimir Effect produces negative pressure. Until they unlock the secrets of Space-Time we aren't going anywhere.stubby wrote:On the one hand, http://io9.com/5963263/how-nasa-will-bu ... warp-drive

That's still far better news than "We figured out the secrets of space-time. We're not going anywhere. "
