Love the bike, NPU of the little rayguns.
Have you seen the black heads that come with the ninjago baddies? The cheapy $10 mech thing comes with one of em, and they've absolutely got the whole traditional japanese demon face. It's pretty cool and might fit well.

I can't believe I hadn't thought of that yet. It's pretty much the exact same idea, and yet it didn't occur to me. I'll consider it, but I don't think those heads would fit with the regular guys. If I do get one, he'll be the dragon master or something, because those faces look a lot more supernatural than the Uruk-Hai ones do. It's unlikely that I'll end up picking one up, because none of the new Ninjago sets appeal to me, but I appreciate the suggestion.IVhorseman wrote:Have you seen the black heads that come with the ninjago baddies? And yes, those ray guns are extremely fun to use.

Re: Some miniature forces
Nah, just stick em on the body-guards and swap out their red sleeves for black.
I don't remember which one's the dragon master, but the set I'm talking about is tenbux and has a million little joint pieces. Joint pieces that just might help with those giant animals you're making...

Re: Some miniature forces
Sorry, I meant to say that I'll use the little guy's face as a dragon master for my army. Also, I know the set you're talking about, and although it has a lot of nice gold parts, it's just not worth it to me.IVhorseman wrote:Nah, just stick em on the body-guards and swap out their red sleeves for black.

Re: Some miniature forces
New stuff! All the pictures are taken on my desk, because the table I usually use for pictures is cluttered with a lot of stuff.
Anyway, first up is the band of Arctic guys. I've added a buggy, a helicopter, and armed all of them properly. No progress on Ursus, but I haven't disassembled him either.
One of the grunts is now the polar bear herder, and he has a harpoon gun. The rest have pickaxes.
Pilot, ice bike driver (both effectively the same thing), hero (with skis and two icepicks), mining specialist (with dynamite and chainsaw), and medik (with syringe and flare gun).
Ice bike with twin harpoon guns.
Buggy. It seats a driver and a gunner. The turret is a machine gun with two small harpoons.
Skis stored in the back.
Helicopter with big harpoon launcher and missile pod. The missile aren't very fitting to the theme of the army, but I justify them by saying they're for mining (like the dynamite).
Planned special rules: extra damage on fleshy targets for the harpoons, immunity to any kind of cold damage, increased movement when wearing skis. I have a bunch of snowshoes, but I couldn't find them in my minifig bucket.
Next up is something I've been wanting to do for a long time, but finally made enough minifigs to flesh it out.
Canada VS. U.S.A.
Both sides have a hero, two champions (one on foot and one mounted with a flag), and some infantry. Both will have their own unique abilities based on cultural stuff.
The Canadian side:
Hero with chainsaw, axe, and snowshoes. The snowshoes will probably give him some kind of movement bonus on difficult terrain.
Hockey player with hockey stick and skates. The skates will definitely give him a speed boost, and he'll be Shielded by all his padding.
Mountie with pistol, sword, and horse with the Canadian flag. He'll an ability called "We always get our man," which will allow him to mark a target and receive a skill boost when attacking them. Once the target is dead, he can designate a new target (a target is marked until they are killed).
Red Green. I was going to make him a mekanik (notice the roll of duct tape), but there's nothing to repair. maybe I'll give them a Zamboni or something.
Outdoorsmen (and an outdoorswoman). Two with hatchets, two with power saws, one with a flare gun, and a park ranger with a sniper rifle. Extra damage to wooden structures? Resistance to cold damage?
The American side:
Hero with shotgun and Hammer of Justice. No idea what abilities to give him yet, except that maybe the hammer can set stuff on fire.
Lady Liberty with the Torch of Liberty. She'll likely have a higher structure level due to the fact that she's made of metal.
Zombie Lincoln (thank god for the Jekyll/Hyde minifig) with AK-47 and horse with the American flag. I should read up on him to figure out a fitting ability, but I might just do the whole "resurrecting zombies" thing.
Lincoln's mob of freed zombie slaves, armed with swords, torches, and a flintlock pistol. The ability I'm going to give them is the Second Amendment. A zombie may use their action to roll a d4. on a roll of 4, they get a free pistol (they can only carry one at a time). They'll be Half-Minded, but I figure that having a 25% chance of making a gun magically appear in their hands makes up for it.
I might do a forum battle with these, but I'm more likely to just do a battle report, since I don't have the dedication to keep a forum battle going.
What does y'alls thinks?

Jeep and helicopter are amazing, the gun on the jeep is one of my favorite parts, will probably have to make it if I can figure out how. Also, the US vs Canada figs all look great.

These guys just get better and better. The Arctic guys have to be my favorite with their awesome weapons and vehicles.

Your vehicles are superb. I think you've captured the essence of Canada quite well as too. Perhaps you could add some Vancouver rioters for cannon fodder.

Thank you for the compliment, but I'll spare you the trouble of figuring it out. Here are the parts:Kalvinator wrote:...the gun on the jeep is one of my favorite parts, will probably have to make it if I can figure out how.

There are three things stopping me from doing that.Silverdream wrote: Perhaps you could add some Vancouver rioters for cannon fodder.
6. I would have to add more minifigs to the American side to balance that out, and I have no idea what the American ones could be. I would do rednecks, but I've already used up most of my redneck-ish torsos on the Canadians. I just don't have enough civilian minifig parts to add to both sides.
7. You'll notice these are in a thread titled "Some Miniature Forces". The whole idea of cannon fodder is that there is alot of it, and that would mean it wouldn't be a miniature force anymore.
8. These two armies are meant to be more about symbolism than manpower. I wanted them to be distinctly Canadian/American, and bulking them up -- especially with what would just be generic rioters -- would defeat the entire purpose. The Canadian side would just become a bunch of rioters with some random Canadian guys mixed in.
Anyway, thanks for the kind words, everybody.
