"So be it. Should thy word be broken, you shall blaze like the sun. Leave, and speak not of this meeting." I cut the goblin free, and sheath my longsword. Looks like we'll be safe for the upcoming journey. I forge onward, and urge my comrades to follow.

"Next time untie him, it's much more handy to have one long length of rope than several short ones".
I start walking, a bit shaken from the event and Gerald's reaction but trying to forget it.

I'll put my keen eyes to use by scouting ahead for the party.
Gregor thinks, somewhat shaken, eyes on Gerald as he slides past to range ahead:
Keep your eyes on that one, Gregor, old boy. He is fairminded, to be sure, but rigid and uncompromising, with only the frightened cleric to hold his leash. We may yet require a larger blade, the better to sink into his broadly muscled back should the need arise.

The goblin runs away northeast as fast as its legs can carry it.
You make your way back to the way Saucix recognizes. Gregor scouts ahead.
After a while Gregor spot a huge, snow-covered rocky outcropping. As he approaches it, he sees that some of the snow on the side of it has been removed, revealing a large stone door, about ten feet tall. In front of the door is a mess of footprints, from both wolf paws and shoes, and there are many sets of wolf tracks leading both to and from the door in all directions. There is also a very fresh set of shoe tracks coming to the door from the southwest.

I'm careful to hide as I gather the information. If I don't see what made the fresh tracks in a few minutes, or signs of any other visitors, I'll head back to tell the others of my find.
Am I able to determine if the shoe impressions were made by small or medium creatures? Is it reasonable to suspect that these tracks were made by the giant-many goblins our ex-captive mentioned?

In the meantime, I eat a really good sandwich.

The shoe prints are quite small. It is reasonable to assume they are from goblins.
Gregor returns to tell the rest of the party what he knows as Saucix has just got a fire going.

Re: In the Cold North - Forum RPG
These are creatures of the dark, are they not? It might be wise to wait for just such a blessing. I would also suggest we extinguish the flames and dine on cold rations tonight. If the sight of these creatures can pierce the veil of night, as I've heard, they already have the advantage. We may as well not give them a beacon by which to find us in the darkness, eh?

"If their eyes see the darkness, then I want to be able to see them as well. Leave the fire be."
Use oil to create a ring around the campsite, and leave a gap about two and a half feet wide.
"I shall keep first watch. If you are wise, you will remain within this circle."

I decide to meditate, to see if this place triggers any visions.

If I can, I'll climb a tree and tie myself in to sleep.
