I think I was more irritated that the only lego school in modern times couldn't have been gender-neutral. I was saying that having it be a "girly" set would encourage male children to associate studying as "girly" and so hence dissuade them (sad but true, the immaturity of American children). In a sense showing girls as intellectuals is the same as promoting anti-intellectualism if it is done at the exclusion (and likely discouragement) of men.stubby wrote:So if I understand you right, you're saying that showing girls as intellectuals is the same as promoting anti-intellectualism. To be honest that set wouldn't have that response with me because I'm pretty anti-school, but absolutely pro-education and intellectualism.

Re: Set/Theme Wishlist
Society has enough cultural reinforcements that school is for everybody (in fact, culture still reinforces that school is for BOYS and boys alone for the most part) that a single lego set is not going to change any kid's mind. Except maybe a girl who's been culturally reared into thinking school is for boys.

Oh my god... If Lego keeps expanding the Friends line, they can stop boys from doing anything at all!aoffan23 wrote:So I guys boys won't be inventing, driving cars, skateboarding, doing karate, or playing soccer any more.

Fear the Friends line! Fear it!
Re: Set/Theme Wishlist
Those are all pretty nice sets, but why do girls need special POOP minfigs?

This is the reason my opinion on the Friends is "wtf is this shit" instead of "woah awesome".Pwnerade wrote:Those are all pretty nice sets, but why do girls need special POOP minfigs?
