Thanks for the advice. I still haven't fought a full scale brikwar with this force, but I'm excited to see how they do. I've also noticed a lack of artillery pieces browsing through the Armory. Is there a tactical reason for this or just that other things are more fun to build?IVhorseman wrote:Just switch out some of the green rings so that the two mechs are identical. You could make the tip of the barrels on both green for "safety" reasons.
The three mechs will not only fill the same role as tanks, but their weapons all excel in taking out heavy armor, and small groups of infantry. Their weaknesses will be when there's too many infantry to simply mow down, and one guy gets lucky with an explosive and attacks one of your critical leg joints. Your hardsuits, on the other hand, are actually PERFECT anti-infantry defense, so if you keep them covering the mechs, you should actually have some pretty good tactical success on the field. Traditionally, tanks are much more able to withstand infantry than mechs, but you've certainly got this covered.
And then of course your other infantry can just go around disabling everyone else's mechs, while your Tracker stays just out of range and lobs off shots.
Aren't big mechs always fucking awesome? And thanks, haha!Bragallot wrote:Those big mechs are fucking awesome.

Artillery is a pretty late-stage development for most forces. People start by making minifig troops, and a fraction of those guys get past that to make jeeps and tanks. Then a fraction of that fraction goes on to add air support. By the time you get to the fraction of the fraction of the fraction that's got infantry, cavalry, and air support who goes on to build artillery, it's a pretty small bunch.Gutrot wrote:Thanks for the advice. Unless they're doing napoleanic warfare. Then you see artillery a lot earlier. But that was mostly the Australian brikwarriors, and they haven't been coming around here for a couple of years.

I and others have artillery, but if we ever need pieces to make the guns on something else better, they're the first to get destroyed for part...at least in my case it would be.

Why make a big artillery gun if you're not just going to stick it onto a tank?

Exactly. Big gun on tank > big gun without tankIVhorseman wrote:Why make a big artillery gun if you're not just going to stick it onto a tank?

An army marches on its stomach, and its favorite food is fudge.
