Next Generation Consoles

Postby dilanski » Fri Jun 14, 2013 9:23 pm

Expected this to pop up sooner. Probably a good thing now the knee jerking has died down. All the players have shown there hands, and the chips are down, literally the next 7 years of gaming are being laid down before us.

In The white corner, representing motion controls, and good content for all ages, we have the WII U.
Image
In the green corner, representing PC style distribution for consoles, and American stereotypes, is Microsoft's XBOX One
Image
In the blue corner, representing classic distribution methods, and absolutely incredible price-performance is Sony's PlayStation 4
Image
Finally in the silver corner, the plucky underdog, flying the flag for crowd-sourcing, and alternative gaming, the OUYA
Image

So gentlemen, what are thoughts, who are you siding with, and why? Personally, even without XBOX's DRM, the power in the PS4 is too much to pass up, even if it's only utilized fully by first party developers.

I'm mostly a PC gamer, finally got a 3600 but I never use it, but I think that the ouya has amazing potential. I'll side with that.

Silver corner all the way, even though I don't really play video games and I don't know what it is.

May get Wii-U just for Super Smash Brothers and Mario Kart.

Not getting XBOX-1 because it is fucking stupid (and the DRM and you must pay to use online?) and probably has no good games anyway.

I had a PS2 and must say I was impressed by my ex's PS3 but it didn't have many titles I was interested in. PS4 sounds even better, I might look at it for the next game in the Armored Core series if they plan on one fpr the PS4 that looks good.

What the fuck is OUYA?

Also, my laptop is incredible and my PC back at home in the USA is even better so really those are the way to go.

But more importantly, I don't have time for any of this shit anyway. Between derby and work I'm totally busy almost all the time.

I'm not impressed by any of the consoles. The Wii U looks to be the top dog and frontrunner in this battle right now, and I wouldn't be surprised if it destroys all the competition, with how shitty all the others look. I doubt if I'll get any of them because I'd rather just stick with my PC.

Yeah ever since Mega Man got confirmed for smash, imma have a pretty hard time NOT getting a Wii-U.

From Software is busy with Dark Souls II and this other game that's pretty similar, so i dunno if another Armored Core's gonna get made for a while. They're riding that train pretty hard.

I have a feeling that PS4 is gonna be to the next generation of gaming what the N64 was to the 90s. It's cheaper and better then the Xbone, and more powerful than the Wii-U. Hardcore console gamers are gonna be all over that. The only problem is that even current computers are equal to or better than any of these consoles. In about a year or two they're gonna be vastly superior.

PC really needs to be an option on this poll.

Armored Core: Verdict Day, launching late September. As for PC, it's not a console, a platform yes, but not a console.

No, Apparently it's genuinely because of the new system software. They have said that game streaming from PS3 to vita is being worked on, but isn't ready now.

I like that sony's at least looking like their putting an effort towards backwards compatibility. I'm PC but I might just have to get a PS4 on moral grounds.
The only unflawed system is Lego System.

PS4's main selling point right now seems to be "not XBOX One".

Xbox One's main selling point right now seems to be...nonexistent.

From what I saw, the OUYA looks okay. But PS4 is defiantly going to win.
