Re: In the Cold North - Forum RPG
We should leave an escape route if needed.
We search the ruins for the last orb. I'll take point as we enter each room and hopefully get hit first.
I wanna check out the spooky mirror again. Pull an orb out in front of it and see what happens.

You barricade the front door from within so that you can easily dismantle the barricade if needed, then Gerald leads the way to the room with the ice mirror. You encounter no opposition.
As before, you do not see yourselves in the mirror, only your possessions. Saucix has the orbs in his pack, will he dare to take one out in front of the mirror?

Saucix takes out an orb and holds it up before the mirror. With loud creaking noises, cracks start appearing in the ice, leading from its reflection. You do not have time to react before the whole surface explodes, sending ice shards flying across the room. Only the reflection of the orb remains. It falls out of the empty mirrorframe and onto the floor, looking as real as anything.

Hey, that was pretty Cool. amiriteguyz?
Let's go put the orbs in the circle.
Just hope we don't summon another ice creature. That last one gave us a Chilling reception.
And I wouldn't want my HP to drop Below Zero.
There'Snoway I'd want that to happen.
Ice Pun. Let's do it.

Re: In the Cold North - Forum RPG
I'll assume you follow Gregor's advice without getting cold feet.
You grab the fifth orb and move on to the central room with the circle, where you place the five orbs in the five floor slots.
The whole room starts shaking. The floor inside the circle drops down a foot or so, then splits into five sections along the curved lines. The floor sections start retracting, revealing a deep dark pit beneath them. You jump back to avoid falling down.
Eventually the floor in the circle has retracted completely, and the room stops shaking. The pit stretches down into darkness; you can't see the bottom of it. But soon you notice something coming up from the blackness. It is a sword, floating in the air and steadily rising upwards. When it comes above the lip of the pit it changes direction, going out over the solid floor where you are standing. There it drops down with a clank.
The sword is similar in style and size to the sword wielded by the ice person, and now wielded by Gerald, but this one is much more intricately made. This is what it looks like.

Dibs. I wield the sick-ass blade.
Somebody toss a rope down the hole and tie one end to something sturdy, yeah? We're going in.

Bitchin. And nice pun.
I tie the rope off to something solid. Maybe drag the table across the door and tie it around that?

I'm the better melee combatant. Go ahead and take it if you're so arrogant, but know that it'll be more effective in my hands. You may be leader, but I'm the one who's been suggesting all of the actually good ideas - especially after that incident with the mirror.

"Hold on, lemme get a look at that thing." I quickly examine the sword for any enchantments/traps, then I see if I can figure out those funny looking runes on the side.
The only unflawed system is Lego System.
