Liberation Day Epilogue: Nightfall

The Magic SOB forum is for posts of story sequences that are frequently vignette-based. Put those here while actual battle reports can go in Reports From the Field.
You must talk like James T. Kirk in this forum at all times. Leonard Nimoy is fine too.

Liberation Day Epilogue: Nightfall

Blackdog: Oh blimey, my 'ead... where am I?...

Image
Around him, survivors from the Britannian fleet are engaged in a fierce battle with T.L.A. commandos... and losing.

Image
Nearby, a VoL stealth transport lands unnoticed behind a rocky outcropping...

Image
Enigma: "I don't understand. Why go to all this trouble?"
Caleb: "Blackdog leads the largest force in the battle for the Refuge system. As such, by the laws of the Immortal Empire, the system will most likely go to the Britannians if it is captured. But with Blackdog gone, the Britannian fleet would be forced to regroup and we would have an opportunity to take the system for ourselves."

Image
Caleb: "Blackdog's species clearly has an impressive ability to regenerate, but I detect no Immortal Core. He may be able to survive a headshot, but if we dispose of his body in a black hole I doubt we'll hear from him again. Do you have a shot?"
Enigma: "Just a minute..."

Image
Blackdog: "One step at a time. This electro-musket should do nicely..."

Britannian Marine: "Excellent shooting, Admiral."
Blackdog: "Likewise, Private. Now, let's see if we can find a way off this-"

*BLAM*
Blackdog: "Bloody hell, a sniper? They never give up, do they?"

The first bolt of enervated phlogiston lands in front of Enigma, causing him to stumble backwards...

Image
...and the second finishes him off.

Image
Blackdog: "The Enervated Phlogiston Projector's not going to do me any more good... let's see now... yes, this gun will work fine. Let's see if that sniper had any friends..."

Image
Caleb: "Dammit, where'd he go? He's not on my sensors-"

Image
Caleb: "AAAAAH!"
Blackdog: "I must admit, I'm surprised to find an Immortal here. Although not particularly surprised that it's you."
Caleb: "Wait... we could work together."
Blackdog: "Oh, they always say that. Trust me, you've already been quite helpful."

Image
Caleb: "Nononononono-"

Image
*BLAM*

Image
Blackdog: "Thanks for the ship. I assure you, I'll make very good use of it..."

Caleb seems less useful than a Dungan cleaning lady.
