right! around how much light do you need for a good photo?

If you want to do a good job, you'll need to buy some lumens.

If you get a bulb with a higher color temperature (probably around 4000-5000K), then you should be able to get clearer shots.

Just remember, placement of the light is pretty crucial as well.

Get a desk lamp and put a piece of paper on it to evenly diffuse the light

It's actually very important to use a tripod or some other camera-stabilizing device regardless of the lighting you have. Then you can exposure for longer without making the pictures blurry.
