LDD Ship Showdown?

Post by dilanski » Sun Nov 03, 2013 3:18 pm

Just an Idea I'd like to try, we get a few LDD ships of roughly the same class, and bash them together in a 'Wargame' to find the 'Best Ships In Class'. Probably the kind of brackets we'd use:

'Heavy' Battleships & Battle-cruisers
'Light' Battleships & Battle-cruisers
Carriers
Cruisers
Destroyers
Frigates

Anyone game for this? Also I'd like to see how the older LDD rule sets are working with the vastly inflated scales now in use, and see if a unified rule set could be made from them.

I like this idea.

I think the Oloth brikspace ruleset works perfectly fine for normal combat. In fact, I think it's the other way around, it works better for normal combat, as opposed to "super" battles involving dreads and Angels and whatnot.

Would each player have one ship in these battles?

Yeah, everyone would post the single ship they'd want to put forward for that fight, along with a breakdown of how they see the vessel, Is it Balanced, Glass Cannon, Heavily Armoured, etcetera, this'd come in a simple stat sheet, 4 categories, Speed, Armour, Weaponry, Special.

Sure, It's not like I'd know if you'd only just made it anyway.
