Homeworld: Shipbreakers (Deserts of Kharak)
BFenix is happy. Very happy.
Most of the legendary team behind one of my all-time favorite RTS ever, Homeworld, is continuing the franchise. Now known as Black Bird Interactive, the formerly named Hardware: Shipbreakers game was grabbed by Gearbox (who bought Relic, Sierra and THQ, thus the rights to the Homeworld series) and cut loose it's projected F2P design. Honestly, this is good. I'd much rather have to pay for a good final product made by a talented, well financed studio than have to deal with the issues F2P offers. Plus, it would cheapen the good name of the series IMO.
I'm super hyped for this, the theme behind the game is fantastic and original and fits the Homeworld universe flawlessly, even without being in space. I'm even more satisfied that the team behind it is mostly the same, so you can expect that absolutely sweet artwork, soundtrack, deepness and hugeness of gameplay that Homeworld offered. Can't wait!
Ah, also, Homeworld 1 and 2 are getting HD remakes to be sold on Steam. That's great and all, but you know what that means? Steam-based multiplayer. Fuck yeah. Homeworld's broken browser won't stop me this time, ahah!

happy to see some footage after the massive silence from when they first announced it.

How's that compression ratio?

I could have seen that live at the convention, but they wanted $350 for a ticket.
So I stayed home.
Looks cool.
