Gruesome Lego War Wounds

Post by Scratch » Sat Jan 11, 2014 4:41 am

So, I was re-vaming one of my older (5 years without a costume change) figures, and as I tried to switch out the arm, and this happened...

Shattered like a glass bottle, I had to X-acto the nub off before the torso was usable.

How common is this type of extreme breakage?
The only unflawed system is Lego System.

Never seen it before. How old is that fig/how much has it been used.

Wow. The worst I get are cracks around the wrist holes. But only on really old figs, and never to that extent.

Certain kinds of cleaning solutions will cause Lego to get brittle like this. Otherwise I don't know. Was the arm older than the rest of the figure?

Absolutely disgusting. You should have warned us how graphic the image was going to be.

I've seen it. Course, it was only two minifigs, and they're both long gone.

I've never seen an arm crack like that, but I have seen hands crack both at the wrist and because of overstressing the "grippy" parts.

Yeah, I don't know how the fuck this happened, the fig was old and I don't know the age of the arm, but I haven't used any cleaner fluids on lego.

I had one where the joint was stuck inside the torso and the rest of the arm was broken clean off

I've never seen that happen before, though I could see it happening if the arm was already cracked or damaged in some way.

I have some clone troops from 2002 that have really bad torso cracks and I think a few have lost pieces off their arms. After 10 years and heavy play they seem to finally break down. Don't have any pics unfortunately.

I have two construction minifigs from that big box of City minifigs that Lego used to sell. When trying to switch out arms, the arms just broke off on both of them. I then stopped trying to switch out arms :rtfm:.

The thing is, the minifigs weren't even that old.
