Festivals 2014

Postby Apollyon » Thu Jan 30, 2014 3:51 pm

So who's going where (in Europe)?

I will be at the following outdoor festivals:
6. Protzen Open Air
7. Rock Hard Open Air
8. Party.San Open Air
9. Summer Breeze Open Air (probably)

I will also be at "Hell over Hammaburg" in March and i want to go to Glasgow in November to see Atlantean Kodex.

Ignoring the European exclusivity,

I want to go to Shambhala in Canada this year. That'd be pretty cool, since I've been wanting to go since before I broke my legs and I think now I can finally handle it.

On the other hand, not even Motorhead can get me to want to go to Coachella.

I doubt Motorhead will play anywhere this year...

Shambhala looks like taking place in a very nice area. Too bad drugs are mandatory in the electro scene.

Yeah that's honestly what keeps me out of the electronic scene in the first place. It's good music, but ecstasy is kindof over the top.

Not many festivals around here at this time, however, I saw Iced Earth with Warbringer last week and a few days ago, Red Fang with Lord Dying and The Shrine.

So we've been getting some, ahah :)

3 metal bands come here a year.

I didn't get to see Sabbath, but I might get to see Mötley Crüe.

Just got back from PPM Fest. Saw some good bands: Rage kicked ass of course, so did Serenity and Masterplan with Rick Altzi (who gets much too harsh critique from rabid Jorn fans imo). Triosphere was a very nice discovery (even though they've apparently already been around for 10 years...) and bar a couple of exceptions the other bands were enjoyable too.

I'll also grab my tickets for Graspop soon. The line-up looked terrible at first but it got better over time. Let's just hope the bands I wanna see don't perform simultaneously like they did last year (I missed Kreator and Testament this way...)

I'll probably find myself at Summerfest in Milwaukee this summer. I usually try to go at least one of the days.

I jelly. Sabaton will drop by in September, but I'm more excited for Korpiklaani and Tyr.

Also, I might go to Vagos Open Air this Summer, they have a pretty good setlist for three days! Check it out:

Just came back from Groezrock, been working at the entrance there for the last 4 years. We only work one shift and we're also allowed some free time away from our shift so I managed to see some Madball, the Descendents, the Setup and half an hour of the mighty Offspring, I was lucky and got to hear Come Out And Play and Self Esteem.

Once again not actually a festival, but instead of seeing Crüe I'll probably see KISS and Def Leppard instead.

I'm currently organizing a trip with some buddies for Vagos Open Air. Getting REALLY excited, it's been a while since I went to a festival!

Like I mentioned before, the line-up is pretty good.

I actually did find myself at Summerfest on the 4th. Didn't see anyone notable, but it's always fun to see new bands and people watch all day.

A few weeks ago I went to Graspop. Saw Slayer, Opeth, Annihilator, Ghost, Gamma Ray, Primal Fear, Kylesa, Powerwolf, W.A.S.P., the Treatment, Black Sabbath, SEPULTURA and a whole bunch of others (edit: those being Paradise Lost, Carcass, Candlemass, Mastodon, Gojira, Dark Tranquility, Skillet, STAHLZEIT, Black Label Society, Metal Church, Rhapsody of Fire and bits and pieces of a couple of other bands).
