Updated Persian Army/Fortress
Some of you may remember my Persian army and their Taj Mahal-like palace:
Some of you might have also caught a glimpse of this palace at the beginning of the Temple of Boom forum battle:
This is actually the new Persian fortress.
Here is the king's harem in the courtyard.
The rug lifts up to reveal a secret hiding place.
The rug on the other side reveals a secret entrance.
Here is the new leader, King Ali, in the throne room. The fountain beneath him...
...isn't just a fountain, it's a door...
...to a secret treasure room guarded by a genie!
My Persian army has also undergone some significant changes since I originally created them. During June 2012, the Persian army fought in the Battle of the Rising Sands:
Although they won, almost everyone was wiped out.
The sultan was slaughtered at the hands of the Crimson Knight, who promptly devoured the king's head. In the aftermath of the battle, I decided to turn Prince Ali, one of the only survivors, into King Ali, and make some other changes to the army.
Here are some common soldiers, armed with a variety of weapons. They are unarmored and don't always have the best training, but they are brave and can survive well in desert environments. Some ride camels and act as scouts.
Here are the professional troops. In addition to the the heavily armored black guards in the back, I made some swordsmen. In the front is the Master of Blades (hooded) and an assassin.
Here is the cavalry. King Ali is armed with a bow, lance and sword. To his right is the captain of the guards, captain Aziz. To his left is another heavily armored knight. The rest of the cavalry are lightly armored horsemen with bows and swords.
The Persian trump card is still war elephants. Several different kinds of elephant saddles/towers are used, but all feature a driver armed with a lance and another warrior armed with a ranged weapon.

Such Badass.
Genuflect, show some respect:
Down on one knee.
Now try your best to stay calm,
Brush up your Sunday salaam,
Then come and meet his spectacular coterie!
Make way for King Ali!

Okay, kudos for the song, but the word is salon, not salaam - the Sunday salon was the room you kept the good china in for entertaining guests after church service (god, knowing that makes me feel old...)Quantumsurfer wrote:Such Badass.

But yes, ELEPHANTS!!! Love the look of the army! You need to make some Immortals now, or just use that name for your heavy foot infantry.
Oh, and to continue...
Who sent those goons to their Lords, why Prince Ali!

Dat palace though.
Seriously. I love all the secret entrance ways in the palace. What's a palace without one, anyway?

Everyone's talking about the war elephants, but I like the castle the most.
This sig is too fucking large: show anyway
Re: Updated Persian Army/Fortress
I always try to build some kind of castle, fort or base for any large army I create. It gives me somewhere to display the army and also gives me something to use in a battle.

Oh, those lowdown lyrics websites. I thought it sounded off.Scribonius wrote:but the word is salon, not salaam
Good policy. It's an awesome palace. And I like it on the rug, of course.Alex wrote:I always try to build some kind of castle, fort or base for any large army I create. It gives me somewhere to display the army and also gives me something to use in a battle.

Beautiful castle, ideal to be wiped out in some epic battle
These secret areas are cool too. Generally, i like the way you built it

Re: Updated Persian Army/Fortress
Looking good. Did you customize those dragon helmets?
Re: Updated Persian Army/Fortress
Yes. I just colored them with a silver sharpie. I made a small Roman army before they came out with any Roman minifigs in the minifig collectables series. I'm hoping to get some of the legionaires and a centurion at some point, but they are expensive now.Bragallot wrote:Looking good. Did you customize those dragon helmets?

So much epic win for this thread; well played sir.
Army is great. Love the elephant riders.
Palace is fun and uncommon. The feast looks amazing. Also nice touch having it all on that rug =)
Ended in scattered parts from destructive mayhem...
