Hey everyone,
I haven't been on in the forums for a long time, but my dark-age boredom and nostalgia led me to creating another fantasy army and helped re-ignite an interest in the greatest battle game ever (Brikwars of course).
These are various units from different lands that fight together under the leadership of a wealthy individual. They are also united under a common enemy, my Imperial Army (a thread on them will soon follow).
A view of the whole force.
Another view:
Dismounted cataphract javelineers
Rangers from the North, who operate as individual units and act as scouts as well as ranged troops. Accompanied by their trusty hunting hounds
A warband of Northmen raiders, eager to pillage!
A warlord of the eastern nations with his honor guard cavalry.
Pike/halberd-type weapon wielding troops from the regions southwest of the empire.
Militia Spearmen from the desert nations.
General and his standard at the front of a contingent of skirmishing infantry and archers.
Highland clansmen, roused to war against their pesky southern neighbor.
Toshinorii sellswords from the Far East.
The hammer-thrower, a longe-range artillery piece that launches hammers or axes long distances at a fairly high rate of fire. Not totally satisfied with this one. Also note that these are much less effective in practice, since a hammer is really only going to hit one enemy at a time.
That's about it for the enemies of the God-Emperor and his armies. thanks for checking them out!

I like the wide variety of minfigs on display here, the Rangers and Highlanders are my favorites. I feel like the pike guys could use a bit more detail -- the plain uniforms seem kind of odd on medieval minfigs.
Re: Mercenary Faction(s)
Glad you like em!
As for the pikemen, I was going for a sort of armor-heavy on the top look. I don't have enough armor-printed torsos, and the only armor I had left was black Euro armor with a skeleton design on the front, so I put them on backwards on those guys. I'm definitely open to any suggestions for changes you might like to see to that unit.

Ah, I didn't notice the armor the first time because it's hard to see in the photos. I can see how they'd look good in person, though. Just wondering, what does the armor look like on the front?
Re: Mercenary Faction(s)
They really are kind of bland to be honest.
And here's the armor: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=2587pb20

This is very well done for such a diverse force.
This sig is too fucking large: show anyway
Re: Mercenary Faction(s)
Thank you! I was going for a core force of some of the tan guys surrounded by various mercenaries from different lands. Hence all the various units with different colors (or so goes my excuse).Silverdream wrote:This is very well done for such a diverse force.

These are , all these units look really mean and menacing. The wide variety of (awesome) troops reminds me of Hannibal's army. The skirmishing infantry even look like Iberian infantry, the highlanders could pass as the Gauls who fought in his army, etc. And I think you should keep the hammer-thrower 'cos that thing is as well.
I really hope to see these guys on the battlefield soon.

Glad you like em! Funny that you make the Hannibal comparison, those skirmishes td were at first some Hellenic type troops, and the javelin guys were originally my attempt at Parthians, as were the tall shielded militia spearmen. We'll see about a battle in the near future for sure.
