Age of Empires II: Forgotten Empires

They updated the AI in this expansion. Even a Moderate Computer fucking kicks ass. I barely just beat one after playing for over 5 hours on Black Forest. It was a constant back and forth. Even after securing 4 out of 5 relics in a stroke of incredible fortune it took another 45 minutes before I could kill it. In the end my score was over 200K and I had over 12,000 kills. The computer also had over 10,000 kills. I mined and spent most of half a million wood and just under half a million food.

This did look interesting, but I don't know if I want to pick the old relic back up again. Age of Empires HD on Steam does also interest me though...

My brother just started playing the Conquerors expansion. Brings back memories. Maybe I should start playing it again too.

I also recall the AI deftly dodging projectiles from siege weapons. It was very annoying.

Well, when they moved at a snail's pace, it was hard to not dodge them.

Yeah I like to use Scorpions because they are hard for the computer to dodge, but unlike Onagers they don't hurt your own guys with friendly fire. Onagers are way more powerful though.

The dodging problem is most apparent with cannon galleons, they can't be easily used against enemy ships if they are run by an AI.

And Onagers can destroy trees, so if you have enough patience, you can do a pretty sweet surprise attack with them.

Yeah, all the cannons sucked vs units because they were so slow. You also don't even have to dodge them. Just tell your pikemen to engage the cannons in melee. They can't be hit.

It's sort of interesting to play AE3 right after AE2 and notice the huge difference in cannonball movement.

For some reason I thought the Incas were already in AOEII, Maybe I'm confusing Age of Empires with Rise of Nations.

I heard that this will be launched as an Official expansion or DLC, Not sure if it will be free or not, It should be If you ask me.

Looking forward to trying the Rus and Hungarians

So 2 days ago overwatch_elite, BFenix, and I all played AoE II: FE together online. We used some garbage program called GameRanger to connect with eachother. I could not believe that it ran properly on the first try. Anyway, we played 2 games on a custom map I made. Game 1 the computers wrecked us, but game 2 we did a FFA and I completely destroyed the other guys, but to be fair I've been playing this game quite a bit for the last 2 years.

GameRanger may be a little rough around the edges, but it definitely gets the job done.
