Re: Waves of Krimson Gold - Turn One
Turn Two
Esduin rolled initiative for the turn.
Esduin (TheVengefulOne)
The formation of paladins skirt past the fire, regroup, and just have enough move left to charge into the line of stationary swordsmen. Three of the warriors fall under the charge, absolutely obliterating half the squad.
The other formation isn't as lucky. They charge up the slope but roll too low to do any significant damage for some reason. One even crit-fails and drops her blade!
While another is downed by counters, Frostborne claiming their first kill of the game.
The inquisitors move up to the bottom of the slope and keep their formation locked into a tight shieldwall.
Meanwhile the archers move forward and keep their bows at the ready.
Jy'udi approaches the blazing campfire and lifts her greathammer to the heavens.
"Spirits of fire, heed my call!
Help us burn these wretched halls!"
Feat successful! She summons a fire matriarch. It's stats are:
Skill: d6
Move: 5"
Armor: 4
Extras: Flying, Living Field Hazard.
Frostborne (bann154)
The disrupted archers pick themselves back up and fire at the paladins below, the tower bowmen join their fire as well.
Succeeding in picking off two of the elves below.
The other bowmen aren't as lucky, they fire at the onslaught below but their damage isn't enough to do much harm.
Frostbornian warriors flood from the palisade wall, fearlessly piling up on the Esduin soldiers. They manage to down one of the elves, but the rest are locked in close combat.
Meanwhile, the remainder of the swordsmen below retaliate and bring down a paladin.
Another paladin is ganged up on and slain.
Secret Faction 1 (Robot Monkey)
Behind Frostborne's line of defense, a small band of Norsemen led by Torsten the Bear have arrived, heeding the call of battle.
"And just before the Yule celebrations!" Torsten growls, "make haste brothers! Let's send these fancy-pantsy fruit-flavored cowards to hell!"
Secret Faction 2 (RedRover)
Meanwhile by the icy coast a party of Draklon looters gather, led by none other than Kaptain Lucer himself. "Shite," the kaptain says, "and I thought the battle would be over by now."
"Sir, it looks like it's just started," observed one of the rangers.
"You don't say? Well I guess we can't just stand around, not while Esduin knows we're here anyway."
Send orders for turn 3!

Re: Waves of Krimson Gold - Turn Two
Turn Three
Rolled for initiative as per usual, order of players are:
Draklon (RedRover)
Esduin (TheVengefulOne)
Norsemen (Robot Monkey)
Frostborne (bann1540)
Draklon (RedRover)
"Alright lads, lets keep our heads down and hopefully those elves will do most of the work for us!" Lucer's words are surprisingly inspirational enough to grant his band an extra 1d6 worth of move inches for the turn.
The heavy-armored knights, the Wardens, unequip their flails in favor of their pointier spears.
The Wardens line up shield by shield, while the rangers take up position behind them. Lucer follows behind, protected by two minfigs worth of meatshields. As they move within range, the rangers take some potshots at the enemy watchtower but to no affect.
Esduin (TheVengefulOne)
Jy'udi twirls her greathammer around tries to stroke it like a string instrument.
But the feat falls upon deaf and unappreciative ears.
"Even their taste in music is bad!" Jeers one of the Norsemen.
The fire matriarch moves toward the nearest Frostborne warrior and lights him on fire. The swordsman is no match for it, except for the fact that he literally got turned into a match.
The melee below continues on, three paladins miraculously failing to do damage on this particular swordsman, even while ganging up.
Another few paladins try the same strategy on another swordsman.
But he doesn't take too kindly to it and crits his counterattack roll, the results are blindingly obvious.
The uphill battle continues on as a paladin smites another swordsman, neither side seeming to gain much ground as of yet.
The Inquisitors separate, four of them breaking off and moving toward the Norsemen while the rest are beginning to forge ahead onto the hill.
The archers move up, the group nearest the hill taking aim and firing into the heart of the battle.
And claiming their first kill.
The Norse (Robot Monkey)
"Victory or Brikhall!" Bellows Torsten the Bear, his warriors answer him and cry in unison, inspired for the turn.
Archers take aim-
-And crit their damage input so hard, the decapitated head of an elf is enough to disrupt the other behind him.
The berserkers charge into the fray. Unfortunately they get so wildly excited swinging their weapons that they forget to dish out any real damage.
Frostborne (bann154)
The Esduin archers soon find out the hardway that Frostborne soldiers are not the only ones in range of deadly biting arrows.
The close combat carries on, resulting in the slaying of another paladin.
"Enough of this, we can't give them any more ground!" Yigmire shouts, their situation looking more and more dire despite the heavy casualties Esduin had suffered thus far.
The Frostbornian Officer dives into the fray and slices through a startled paladin. "Push them back!" Yigmire shouts. "And isn't someone supposed to light the beacon tower?"
~End Turn Three~'

True, Frostborne is slaughtering the paladins, but lets not forget about the heavier units still to come. Also, maybe if those lazy Draklon would shift their arses into gear...
Also I guess the Norse are probably diehard Amon Amarth fans, shoulda figured as much.

Re: Waves of Krimson Gold - Turn Three
Turn Four
Order of players for this turned rolled out as such:
Esduin (TheVengefulOne)
The Norse (Robot Monkey)
Draklon (RedRover)
Frostborne (bann154)
Esduin (TheVengefulOne)
The disrupted paladin from last turn gets back to his feet and despite the resulting move penalty he is able to get in range enough for an attack.
And slices right through a Frostborne swordsman's neck.
Another elf fatally wounds a berserker, ramming his blade into the warrior's gut.
The berserker uses his last few breaths to unleash his rage, dishing out one more counterattack. The attack doesn't amount to anything however.
And he succumbs to his wound, lying in a pool of his own blood.
Yet another paladin runs a swordsman through.
His body slinks against the side of the hill, lifeless eyes staring off into the distance.
The grinding melee at the hill continues on as another Frostbornian falls. Esduin seems to be fighting harder than ever.
The Inquisitors that had been heading toward the Norsemen suddenly change their minds and charge up the hill, running down a Frosbornian officer.
Rangers move up and take aim, their arrows pointed up a single target.
And after several critical successes, overwhelm Yigmire's armor roll. "Hhhurrrkk!"
The fire matriarch moves toward the Norsemen and tries to light the last berserker on fire. Her attack fizzles and doesn't do anything.
The other group of rangers move up and take aim with their eyes on the hill.
And manage to overwhelmingly pierce an icebreaker's armor.
Kaptain Jy'udi approaches the decapitated head of one of her paladins. "How distasteful. How we've taken this many casualties would displease Her Majesty greatly. However..."
"-Even in death you will be of use to her!" Jy'udi smacks the head like a croquet ball.
The projectile-turned head hurtles toward the Norsemens frontlines.
Headshot!
Torsten is stunned for the turn, probably suffering a pretty bad headache.
I will never stop making shitty puns.
The Norse (Robot Monkey)
Norse archers rain down furious arrowfire on the Esduin soldiers, felling one of them.
The remaining berserker takes revenge for his fallen brother.
And partially lights himself on fire for standing too close to the fire matriarch for too long. The damage isn't enough to kill him though.
Draklon (RedRover)
The Wardens throw their spears up at the Frostborne bowmen
Surprisngly one scores a direct hit, while the other misses.
The other bowman is downed by arrowfire from the Draklon rangers.
Kaptain Lucer stops and pulls out some sand from his pocket for some reason. "I knew this would come in handy. Sand is a staple to any seasoned warrior's arsenal!"
"Eat this, you filthy barbarians!" He throws it directly at the watchtower above.
Defying gravity, the wad of sand splatters into the tower, blinding the bowmen temporarily and messing up their skill rolls for the turn. "Gaachh! What sorcery is this?!" One of the bowmen shouts.
Frostborne (bann1540)
These two bowmen fire at the Esduin paladins below, hoping they can be of more use than their comrades in the watchtower who, for some reason, couldn't hit a thing.
Success! A single paladin is turned into an expensive-looking pincushion.
The heavy-hitters meet up and deal out some serious damage to one another, but so far a single Inquisitor is crushed by warhammers.
Spearbearers form up a final line of defense. They exchange no words nor looks of discontent, their steely gazes are set on the golden tides before them.
~End Turn~

Some AoE damage would come in handy here!
Those puns. The fire matriarch moves toward the nearest Frostborne warrior and lights him on fire. The swordsman is no match for it, except for the fact that he literally got turned into a match.
I also like the inclusion of Draklon Raiders. In my storyline they do the dirty work for elves, guess it's only right they switched roles here.
