Fleet Forum Battle

It's a forum battle! I've never run one before and never seen one run with fig-scale fleets so this should be fun. I'm going to update weekly and run two rounds of combat per week whenever I feel like it. We're rolling with the 2018 rules as of 3/2/18. Orders can be DMed to me.


While transporting a critical intelligence datacube, the Artemis has been caught out of position by a Counciliar patrol! The Council has instructed the patrol to board the Artemis and capture the datacube. Out of range of reinforcements, the Artemis will have to destroy the enemy patrol themselves. Also there's a secret faction, to appear around week 3.

Freighter crew: 1 pilot, 1 tek, 2 mechanix


Freighter is carrying 4 commandos, 4 standard infantry, and 1 jetpack specialist (deploys from rear door)


Sky Shark bridge crew: 1 pilot, 1 tek


Secondary crew: 1 leader, 2 gunners, 1 mechanix


Sky Shark is carrying 4 ninja troopers and 5 space marines, including 1 explosives specialist (deploys from front door)


The Seagull is carrying 4 space marines (deploy from rear)


The Artemis has got 2 pilots on standby, 2 gunners, 2 security officers, 2 deck technicians (who can each deploy 1 deck turret once fighters scramble), 2 engineers





Bridge crew: 1 pilot, 1 tek, 1 leader. Note that they have two guns in storage to defend the bridge.

The battle is not balanced in terms of U" but I think the difficulty of the objectives should balance that out.

Round 1

THE RED ONES

Counciliar Fleet moves up and fires on the Artemis in a single combined attack.


The M ako and Frigate make successful attacks, the larger two vessels are still out of range and do not land their shots.

PEW PEW PEW


The Frigate also fires its torpedo.


Total damage is 183, knocking the Artemis down 9 pegs to size 38 as explosions burst against its armored hull


THE BLUE ONES
Artemis responds by targeting the frigate with its forward batteries.


"Crumbs."

The 14 guns deal a total of 143 and take 10 points of size off the frigate (now at size 3). The Artemis is unable to target the smaller vessel with its torpedoes.


The fighters deploy.


The Valkyrie II fires its lasers at the frigate, dealing 58 damage. The frigate valiantly tanks 48 and succumbs to the remaining damage.

The Artemis deploys its interceptors, which fire on the M ako along with the rear Valkyrie. The combined fire is 17, reducing the M ako by 1 point to size 4.

Snow day today in NY, might as well update this battle.

Round 2

The Red Ones

The Sky Shark moves up and deploys some marines who begin to float over to the wreck.


The fleet moves up. The Sky Shark's Engineer redirects energy from their deflectors to boost speed. The freighter's Engineer blows a gasket in the starboard engines trying to do the same.


The M ako fires at one of the Chickadees and tries to draw them away, but does no damage.


The freighter fires on the nearest Valkyrie, dealing a crippling 5 inches of damage.


Gunner 1 on the Sky Shark fires at one of the Chickadees, and takes it WAY OVER THE TOP with a torpedo.


BOOM one Chickadee is blown up.


BOOM the shockwave takes out the other one.


Gunner 2 tries to do the same to the heavy fighter, but whiffs the shot.


The Sky Shark begins to deploy its boarding party, which efficiently cuts down the deckhands.


The Blue Ones

Fighters deploy. The Seagull attempts a high-G maneuver that overheats Engine 1.


"Charging up the SHIP Buster! Blast Shields deployed!"


"Abort! Abort! System failure, attempting to reboot!"


The Artemis targets the M ako with its rear cannons, and the wounded Valkyrie contributes with its smaller lasers. The M ako holds on desperately to its last inch, though.


The Artemis also fires its forward batteries at the Sky Shark at point blank range, as well as a torpedo. The lead Valkyrie also fires everything it's got. Together they deal a devastating 16" of damage (312 points).


Security on the Artemis establishes a defensive line.
