So, our final assignment for Digital Pre-Press & Production Design class was to create a small 'zine. Content was up to us as long as we followed the proper guidelines for the document. As such, inspired by the astonishing new trailer for CD Projekt Reds' Cyberpunk 2077 revealed at E3 I got my netrunner and synthwave vibe back again and decided to do something along those lines.

I'll admit, I was a bit greedy with this one... The idea was to take photos of most of my classmates and creating cyberpunk collages having different characters with different styles and backgrounds for each one. Although extremely short on time, I'd like to do as much as possible for next weeks' delivery. And even after that, if this project doesn't die on the beach like most do, I might keep it going since I'm actually enjoying it alot.

Anyway, first up we have the Chop Doc. Some sort of demented surgeon that would (almost definitely illegally) cut, glue, store and sell material like organs and prothesis to the highest biders and with little to no corporate control.

Gonna try and keep posting these. A big thanks to Miguel for posing!

is Chop Doc's hand on backwards? Whether that's intentional or not, looks like a real fun project!
I make apocalypses and apocalypse accessories.

There are some mistakes on this one (that's one of them, the glove messes the hand's perspective) , I'm still learning new tools and techniques in PS as I go :rtfm:

In a good way I hope, cyberpunk always had this over-the-top feel to it when it's not subdued in the nitty-gritty noir, ahah.

This is dope. It's hard to ram that much character into a single image. I look forward to seeing the others.

Second piece for the CyberZINE project - actual Cyberpunks!

I've recently read an interview and saw a video from Neon Dystopia and Cyberpunk 2077 with the man himself, Mike Pondsmith (aka Maximum Mike or Omni Kismet). It was really nice to see his vision and philosophy behind the cyberpunk genre which he helped (and is helping) cement. Dystopian societies living in megacities covered by a jaded noir feeling where technology got improved and is everywhere. And by that it means that is has all sorts of applications, and of course, not always the best ones. It didn't change who we essentially are. Quoting Pondsmith directly: 'Cyberpunk isn't about saving Humanity, it's about saving yourself.'

You can check these out here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYxt7c… and here: www.neondystopia.com/cyberpunk

Anyway, with this one the idea was to capture some ground-based alley with young, rebellious cyberpunks hanging around, mohawks and all, posing for the camera and displaying their anarchical tendencies possibly for the big corporations to see.

Thanks to Tomás for modeling, more coming soon!

You and me. alot of good stuff is coming out this year and the next one but 2077 definitely has my attention. I'm even getting into the 2020 RPG.

Alas, for the final delivery of the 'zine this was the last one I managed to squeeze in to meet the deadline. I preferred to get it done to be best of my ability than trying to churn out as many as I could.

That being said, here we have a 'laser' tattooer getting a customer some ink in her parlour. The focus was to work on merging tattoos rather than clothing or augmentations and get a new, different and very cyberpunk-ish vibe to traditional tattooing with some digital and mechanical aid for line work and colors while maintaining a believable application of an otherwise rather ridiculous tool. A slight nod to Cyberpunks' 2020 Chromebook there.

Thanks to Joana and Ricardo for posing!

From here on out if any more of these show up they'll be post-class so I can take it easy and have a bit more time to file some edges. Still have a ton of photos, so, no reason not to keep it up now except laziness. :omnom:

The Shadowrun computer games are on massive Steam sale right now til July 5th.

I played Dragonfall.
Dragonfall is considered the best of the bunch if you want to try just one.
You can get all 3 for $15 now

Aww, the Shadowrun universe. I played some of the tabletop RPG and I like it a lot. Even bought some rulebooks recently, even though I no longer have anyone to play with. I'd be happy to read and see the results of your inspiration :)

That's the one I got first, too. Amazing game, but the story is short as hell. pay the extra 10 and get the other two on steam right now.
