Call of Brikthulhu: Finished! Write-Up and Main Thread

Post by RDLC » Fri Apr 24, 2009 3:13 pm

Alright, well, I got the pics up, and now the report is ready! Beware, thee with slow internet, for 59 pictures await you. Now, without further ado, I present Call of Brikthulhu!

Starting positions:

Image
The Rabbi started on top of a hill with a grave. There was a machine gun hidden in there, but no one found it. He was stronger vs. zombies.

Image
Harvey Walters started near a truck. He was able to see other players' pictures.

Image
Dr. Whitman started in his office. He had the ability to heal himself and others.

Image
Sable Epee started in a house. Her special was the ability to counter attack.

Image
Al Hazrad started at the Town Hall, with some zombies. He's in purple. He could control zombies.

First Turn:
Image
Al claims a scythe and orders his zombie minions to scout and guard.

Image
The doctor hides behind a broken ambulance.

Image
The rabbi re-kills a zombie...

Image
...and rides away on a stolen bike.

Image
Sable lunges at a zombie, killing it (technically).

Image
Harvey shoots the Geonosian, killing it (Not in this picture), and makes for the truck.

Turn Two
Image
Harvey gets in the truck and runs over several zombies.

Image
The doctor runs into the square of the mall place and finds a rocket launcher.

Image
Al orders his zombies to attack Harvey.

Image
They do, half-killing him.

Image
Meanwhile, two mysterious figures appear, armed to kill.

Image
Dalek, from the Raiden/Jothan Chronicles, tries to kill them.

Turn Three
Image
Sable barricades the house, and throws out the zombie. It will revive itself soon.

Image
The Rabbi comes up to the bank.

Image
Harvey crashes into Al! This knocks Al down to 1 HP.

Image
In retaliation, Al takes his scythe and causes the first player death! One down, three to go.

Image
At the end of the round, Sable has made it to the roof.

Image
The doctor ran over to the bank's back, and the rabbi is inside. Neither are aware of this.

Image
The zombie hunters take out Dalek.

Image
Zombies storm Sable's house.

Image
A zombie tries to kill the rabbi in the bank.

Image
What is this? A giant monster has appeared!

Image
A Sable's Eye view of the beast, plus others.

Turn Four
Image
Al hops into the truck and runs over one zombie slayer!

Image
Sable's situation looks grim.

Image
So she ducks, and hopes they won't make it up.

Image
The doctor fires off his rocket and kills off two zombies, before running off.

Image
His destination is the yellow house.

Image
The rabbi secures his bank, with his newly found rifle.

Image
The player count is brought down to three as the last zombie hunter avenges his comrade and kills Al Hazrad!

Image
The zombies break through the barricade and enter Sable's house.

Image
Zombies mob the last zombie hunter...

Image
...so he sets off his bomb, destroying all of them!

Image
The monster climbs onto the the doctor's office...

Image
...and onto the rubble of the statue of Lord Brikhart.

Image
A tree is felled by its mental blast, but not the doctor.

Image
Next, the monster flings a fallen tree at the doctor...

Image
...but it misses.

Image
The rabbi is nearly crushed by another projectile, but the monster is having a bad turn for attacking.

Turn Five
Image
Sable decides to make a valiant last stand and leaps down to kill some zombies. Unfortunately, she doesn't.

Image
The rabbi makes for the apartment complex, hoping to escape the monster's wrath.

Image
The doctor makes it into the house, and up the stairs.

Image
Zombies mob Sable, but her counter attack makes quick work of most of them. She gets knocked down to 1 HP, though.

Image
The undead housekeeper attacks the doctor, bringing him down to 1 HP as well.

Image
A street cleaner soars through the air in the first of the monster's attacks. Will the rabbi survive?

Image
The answer is yes. The monster is doing less harm than expected.

Image
However, it still has one trick up its non-Euclidean sleeve.

Image
The pod on the front of the monster bursts off and flies through the air with explosive force!

Image
It goes right through the front of the yellow house...

Image
...and kills Dr. Whitman! Only two remain, now!

Image
An Overwatch before the last turn.

Turn Six
Image
The turn starts off with a splat, and ends just as fast. The rabbi enters the apartment building, where he gets mobbed by zombies, dying quickly.

Image
Sable was not harmed during this turn, and won! Congratulations, Cpl. Halan, for surviving Brikhart!

A final Overwatch.

That's the end of it, then. Thanks to all who signed up, and for making my first forum battle an enjoyable one! Cpl. Halan, you have the secret mystery faction in my next Forum War, the details of which will be posted when I finish up my renovations to Brikhart.

Things learned about Zombie Survival: Ensure that players have access to better weapons, and vehicles are awesome. Also, killer monsters showing up are a good way to add tension, and to keep people on edge. Also, buildings should be thouroughly infested with zombies, so that hiding out in them (a popular tactic) is a bit harder. I look forward to seeing if anyone will do another one of these!

Wow, I got that close to another character. I wonder why the monster attacked me.

This looks great, other than that I died. Also, is there more coming?

More is coming/has come. Also, you were attacked by the monster on account of a sight check, and being the most visible, as the Rabbi was fairly hidden. Also, how do I resize pics without reloading them to Brickshelf? Around Turn 4, they got really big...

EDIT: Oh, whoops, you meant the last attack, with the house? That was also sight check based, but in that case, you had a lower visibility rating than the Rabbi, but it still ended up rolling to attack you the second time.

MS paint, resize tool.
24 or 30% works well.

Ah, well I was running the monsters based on how load someone's actions were, how visible, if they were moving a lot, and perceived threat. And also dice rolls. Call of Cthulhu has those neat d100's that work well for that. And is there any way to HTML resize them? I really hate having to mass upload things to Brickshelf.

Images have been resized, and are being reloaded. Turns 4, 6 will not be available temporarily.

The machine gun inside the grave better have been an AK-47, all Abe-Lincoln style.

In fact, I hereby mandate that from now on all battles with graves have at least 1 grave with an AK-47 inside. You know, just because.

In hindsight, I should've stayed in the bank.

Well an Ak-47 is an assault rifle technically, just saying
