Old battle

Post by Theblackdog » Sun May 31, 2009 10:52 am

I mean a REALLY old battle. As in "We used the 2005 rules verbatim and still cared about CP" old.

In fact, it was so old that I didn't realize that the camera's "quality" menu could make the pics small enough for display on an average computer screen, so I'll just link to Brickshelf, which does the resizing for you.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3600258
The battlefield. A fortress in the center with some random terrain around it. The fortress had a 2" flying vehicle on a landing pad, unoccupied, and a cannon in the central tower. The central tower could only be reached by a retractable ramp; to lower the ramp you had to take this little thing from one side of the fortress and attach it to this other thing on the other side.
Also, we made an arbitrary rule that no aircraft could overfly the fort, except for aircraft belonging to whichever team controlled the little flyer.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3600261
My army. A fighter (with my Hero as the pilot), a skiff with some troops on it, a sniper on a speeder bike, a big hardsuit, two small hardsuits, and the AAPV (my longest lasting creation to date, it's still around and slaughtering my brother's infantry). Anything you don't see in this photo belongs to my brother.

http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/thebl ... cf2490.jpg
My sniper rides his hoverbike up to the fortress and jumps off, but my brother grabs the little flyer and sends his helicopter into the fort to kill the sniper.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3600267
His troop on the flyer is killed. The helicopter can leave the fort's air space, but it can't come back in.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3600268
My medik hops off the skiff and heals the sniper, who grabs the "key" that is used to lower the ramp.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3600269
An enemy bazooka shot wreaks havoc with the troops on my skiff.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3600271
A severed head lands in one of the terrain pieces.

http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/thebl ... cf2496.jpg
Two of my brother's troops in the Grievous Wheelboat are killed.

http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/thebl ... cf2497.jpg
My brother's medik tries to heal the trooper on the landing platform, but fails.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3600275
My jump troops attack the helicopter with grenades. I don't remember if they damaged it or failed to damage it.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3600276
Shot of the vehicular carnage along the side of the field.

http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/thebl ... cf2500.jpg
My machine gun mini-hardsuit is destroyed. At some point the bazooka hardsuit got killed too; they were just too slow (8") to reach the battle in time to do anything.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3600278
The jump troops finally kill the enemy chopper.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3600279
My AAPV slaughters the troops riding my brother's hover tank. In those days the AAPV was armed with 12 (!) MK.I guns. Rolling dice for them took a while.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3600280
The WheelBoat's pilot is killed, so Yoda takes the driver's seat.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3600286
My brother's troop transport attempts to prod my hardsuit to death with its nose spear.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3600287
Something kills a lot of my troops. I think my brother either had a lot of infantry off the right side of the screen, or he got his antipersonnel vehicle through the fort's gate.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3600288
Yoda is killed, leaving the wheelboat pilotless.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3600289
My reinforcements charge out of the back of the AAPV.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3600290
The enemy medik is killed.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3600292
Another enemy troop gets shot.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3600293
After several attempts, my brother's troop transport finally kills my hardsuit.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3600294
The wheelboat is also destroyed.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3600295
The game's final casualty is my brother's antipersonnel vehicle. We stopped after that.

Thanks. The full gallery is here; after that battle I bought some more pieces and improved the color coordination.

Yawn. Reports like these are boring.

It has enough baseplates, however could have more.

If I had more, then yes, it could.

Reports like these are boring because read'n'click is boring, this time not because of the baseplates.

You can do good battlefields with few baseplates (compared to others here).

Oh, stop complaining. In fact he did post the pics that way at first and then must have decided this was better as there were a lot of pics to post. I know because I was in the process of posting a reply the first time when the whole lot disappeared. So I think he changed it for your benefit with the best of intentions.

He said they were gigantic. Did you even read the text?
Often, literally, a pillow fight but may include similar situations like volleyball, particularly when wardrobe is skimpy and the action is bouncy.

and you don't remember the thing called resizeing?

My computer runs Photoshop really slowly and it already takes about a minute to upload a photo to Brickshelf. I posted this battle because it had some good pictures, a lot of carnage, and several corpse piles (off the top of my head I can think of at least 3 mass-death scenes from this game). I understand that people would be less interested in it than they would in a battle with pictures in the actual post, but these pictures are all I have on this game and you can take it or leave it.

That's your problem. DO NOT USE BRICKSHELF if the photos you are going to use will be for read'n'see (like a battle report).
