New 'Carbines'

Post by knight508 » Fri Jul 31, 2009 11:35 am

You know those new gun-like guns from the Star Wars sets? The larger "rifle" guns are clearly rifles, and the Clone Commando pistols are clearly pistols, but what are the more common guns (like in the AT-ST set)- Rifles or Pistols?
:? Perhaps they should count as rifles if used in two hands, and pistols when used in one?

i ignore them, to true scale there large rifles (there longer than a a minifigures leg! do you call that small?) but to brikwars scale ide say pistols.

I use them as uzi-style SMGs that can be wielded one-handed.

The fancy, new, black guns in the Star Wars and Indiana Jones sets? Here are the stats I use:

Small Pistol (like a Walther or Glock)
3CP
Use 3
1d6 @ 6"

Big Pistol (like a Desert Eagle)
4CP
Use 3
1d6+2 @ 6"

Tommy Gun (like a Thompson)
4CP
Use 3
1d6+1 @ 8"

Short Assault Rifle or SMG (like an MP5 or H&K G3)
5CP
Use 3
1d6+2 @ 10"

Long Rifle (like a Dragunov or Barrett M82)
6CP
Use 4
2d6 @ 16"

Try using it one-handed but limiting what the second hand can hold.

Carbine Specifications

Post by knight508 » Fri Jul 31, 2009 3:04 pm

I keep them more in-line w/ the 2005 ed. ruleset. I use them like so:
  • They work as pistols (Rng: 6"/UR 3/Dmg 1d6) if the unit is using them in one hand, or:
  • They work as rifles if the unit is weilding them w/ both hands.
You have been destroyed, wiped out, and disintegrated. Defeat is imminent.

Mine are all with the 2005 ruleset, just with some minor adjustments.

When I get confused as to whether something is a pistol or a rifle, I add more pieces to it until it's a rifle.

i normally make up my own stats and then decide if it should be two or one handed.
so the problem of pistol/rifel doesn't happen.

if used by themselves, it can be either way, though i might lean to pistols. however, becuase of the questionability i like to add peices on to make it longer.

in my clone army, though, those count a rifles and the long ones are for my snipers

definitely not pistols. Try controlling something half the size of your body with one hand and you probably will only have one hand pretty soon. I vote carbines, though personally I don't use them, preffering the SW rifles, new SW pistols and, and custom weapons.

Nice comment about the "pistols," but Lego people are hardly in proportion to their equipment, ever... their "revolvers" are larger than their torsos.

True enough, but there is 'out of proportion' and then there is 'what is proportion?'

I noticed it looks quite cool when you add a lightsaber to the business end.
probably even better when you have a black one.
I use them as triplex pattern lasguns.
