We could do that, but it would be nice (as in friendly and polite) to give a link. Also, we're too lazy to google it.

Heroism is not the ability to kick ass. It is the willingness to use this ability on any poor bastard who so much as looks at you funny.

I suppose we derail the thread then.

Random fact of the month november 2009:

American Astronauts discovered it was not possible to write with a conentional pen in space. NASA spent several millions of dollars to develop a pen that will write in zero gravity.
on the other side of the world, Russian Cosmonauts discovered the same problem.

so they used a pencil instead.
- I refuse to be stopped by something as irrelevant as logic, the laws of physics, or common sense -

if 20 chickens can fit in a brick, how many pingpongballs does a crocodile have to eat so it can swim faster than a washing machine?

I believe it was 30 million they spent on it.

There was something else like that. There was a soap factory in japan or china. Some of the boxes were empty because of the shittyness of the machines. So they spent thousands of dollars, hired expert engineers and built an x-ray device. But one of the workers had another idea. He put a fan near the machine and turned it on. While the boxes that have soa in it stayed and the empty ones flew away.

I bet the authorities fired the worker because he embarassed them.

There was a pretty good one from my hometown a couple years ago, when a truck that was too tall drove into a tunnel and got stuck - all the cops and mechanics and emergency folks were gathered around trying to decide the best way to chainsaw the trailer apart to get it out of there, directing traffic around the lane and gumming up the whole works. As one SUV drives by, a five-year-old girl leans out the window and yells "why don't you just let some of the air out of the tires!" and voila, problem solved.

The newspaper managed to track down the little girl a couple of days later, it turned out the tire thing was her dad's idea and he made her yell it out the window, which kind of ruins the story but that's the way it goes.
