The terror of Blokbots!

Post by Nitewatchman » Sat May 23, 2009 5:02 pm

One of the players in our little Brikwars chapter in Arkansas lacks the amount of minifigs necessary to field a proper army so, instead of minifigs, he fields "Blokbots". There are two varieties: Those constructed with 2x1 bricks, and those constructed with 2x2 bricks.

This person has a lot of both of those kinds of bricks.

So, where we thought we were giving this fellow a weak, but numerous army, we ended up finding out that the Blockbots are scary and nearly impossible to defeat when in large numbers. Why, you ask?

Normal units can barely last a turn or two against a couple squads of blockbots. They're like the Replicators from Star Gate...they just keep coming.

And so, without further adieu, I present to you my latest sketch...

The Terror of Blokbots!

As you can see, the 2x2 variety are melee units, while the 2x1 variety are ranged units. They're both very scary, especially in large numbers.

i like the idea of this sort of army, next time im in a lego shop ill go to the pick a brick and design a small unit and then fill a bag/pot with as many of the nessary pieces as possible.

Yeah, this fellow Brikwarrior of mine, who goes by the name of David, has a lot of them.

I tried to supply him with enough proper squad plates, but as many as I have...

There still weren't enough. My forces were OBLITERATED by his Blokbots.

Yah that's a wonderful idea...I gotta take it into mind.

Nice art, what stats do you give the blockbots?

1d6 armor, 5" of move, and 1d8 close combat attack(No ranged) for the 2x2's.

1d4 armor, 5" of move, and 1d6 ranged attack for the 1x2's.

Also, If Blokbots attack any squad and the Blokbots kill at least three units in the squad, the squad suffers from "Blokbot Terror" and, as long as they are fighting Blokbots, they suffer a -1 penalty to all rolls.

They might seem a bit underpowered in some instances, but you have to realize...David has over a hundred Blokbots in total, and when in squads, the ranged ones can take down just about anything. They're very, very scary units.

If I had had m camera with me sunday night, I would have.

He put the over-100 force on the field, plus a few vehicles and other things.

The initial wave was repelled, but only because they were smaller squads. After that....well, my army, along with Max's gingerpantz army, was destroyed. Completely and utterly destroyed. There's just too many of the dang things!

I would have to say that my favorite battle involving blokbots was when Nitewatchman's ninja squad charged into the mass of blokbots. Them ninjas ain't exactly dasies -- they held their own. For a time.

JEBAS. Decrease the Blokbots' armor! I mean, come on- swarms are fun, but only when both sides have them. When it gets that bad, the only thing left to do is use the swarm rules, by which I mean that there are so many of these things they get decreased armor.

We've been tweaking the stats every other battle. It's gotten pretty reasonable since the first time David used them.

They're still insane, though.

Uh, briknerd7, I believe we've played that game before, and desperately need to do it again. It ended in the nearly complete destruction of both sides -- a battle fought in the true brikwars spirit.
