The imperial 204th mechanized company

Postby ImeantToDoThat » Sat Feb 17, 2018 6:20 pm

Image
general overwatch, the 204th mechanized company consists of roughly 80 soldiers and supporting personnel and is part of the 22nd expeditionary battalion

Spoiler: show
Image

Line infantry and support personnel.

The infantry consists of 12 riflemen, 14 lightly armored dragoons and 4 lightly armored heavy riflemen.

support personnel consists of 7 mechaniks, four mediks, 10 gunners/loaders and 4 pilots

Spoiler: show
Image

the SPG, halftrack and LAVs

on the top left you can see the Godhammer SPG, a nice size 6 artillery piece. In front of that we have the halftrack, armed with a small railgun for self defense it's the standard truck for bringing supplies to the tanks and artillery pieces in long battles.

next to that, in the bottom right, there are two of the LAVs these two are the longbow pattern, armed with a size 6 direct fire gun and a size 3 autocannon to deal with infantry. Behind them are the shortbow LAVs, armed with dual size 4 autocannons. both types of LAV are not equipped to transport infantry, instead using their internal space to carry more gunners for more accurate fire on target.

Spoiler: show
Image

Gladiator MBTs and LUVs

the two light utility vehicles in the front are as basic as can be; four doors, a trunk, room for a small weapon and kinda fast. they serve to get reinforcements to the front fast, to support small infantry groups or are used as patrol vehicles. behind them we see the three Gladiator MBTs, serving as the heavy hitters of the company. Their size 6 cannons are backed up by a size 2 machinegun and a guided missile launcher to deal with airborne threats or blobs of infantry.

Spoiler: show
Image

Light Combat Walkers

the company maintains five light walkers to serve as infantry support in urban areas and act as scouts. they carry mixed armaments and can handle most enemies barring medium or heavy armor.

Spoiler: show
Image

M-60 Titan

the M-60 titan is a large direct fire support platform intended to take out smaller armored vehicles in a single shot. its railgun fires rounds that penetrate three layers of armor before exploding inside, this enables it to kill smaller tanks in one shot, provided it is given time to zero in on its prey.

Spoiler: show
Image

Powered infantry

for the heaviest of urban and close quarters fighting the company maintains three squads of powered infantry, a single of of these is as expensive as a full squad of regular infantry, but can withstand just about everything infantry can throw at them and still keep going. the troops on the left are imperial lancers, carrying size two lazer guns on their back to combat light vehicles. The regular powered infantry on the right is a mix between medium range and melee units and is mainly used for taking critical strongpoints or defending them, as they do not have the speed to actively hunt enemies.

Spoiler: show
Image

elite units overwatch

lastly, there are the elite units and command elements. the left collumm consists of and integrated platoon from the office of military intelligence, these men act as scouts, snipers, assasins and disciplinaries of the legion. The agents of the OMI are hand picked from schools and universities all over the empire and trained to be annoying little bastards, who will torture your granny for information and convice her it never even happend not five minutes after. basically, imagine the KGB, CIA, stasi and NSA had a baby and that baby was then abducted and raised by ninjas.

next to them are the auxillia, they are not actually part of the military but are actually contracters from around the brikverse, they act as military advisors, officers and training instructors. they are required to wear the regulation combat armor but are free to choose their own weapons, resulting in a varried array of swords guns and rocketlaunchers.

at the right of the picture, four preatorians, veterans of many battles tasked with the protection of high value assets or senior officers. Seen here guarding the companies two WMD's a tactical nuke and a cannister of Nerve gas

and finally we conclude with the officers, from left to right

Major marcus van hoeve, commanding officer of  the company, leads from the rear next to his trusty artillery. Has a sword despite the fact that the last time he actually saw an enemy soldier was when he didn't require viagra jet

Luitenant colonel James Verstegen, is actually the commanding officer of the 22nd expeditionary battalion, but is shown here because he happened to be present. he is rarely seen in combat, but when he is, he's usually attempting to beat a man to death with another man.

Captain Francis Francissius, is the commander of the infantrymen, he is a fierce fighter who stands right at the front with his men, he's been promoted up from the rank of private. carries binoculars, combines them with a flashlight to create a lazer kannon.

i'll probably post some more (and better quality) pics sometime in the future, with closer looks a the vehicles/troops and a bit more info, probably ad some statcards too. in the meantime i'd really appreciate your opinion on these fine gentlemen.

Hey there.

First of all, you can post images properly like this:

When you do it, it will look like this:

Anyway, nicely done on getting a large armoured force together. You're light on infantry, but that can be easily fixed in time with a few bricklink orders. Your powered infantry though, those look really good.

Impressive start, pretty cool how you have several copies of multiple vehicles. My favorite would have to be those five smaller walkers, those are pretty awesome (lots of Dakka).

Can the gun aim upwards? Because on mine, it keeps flopping down and it's a bit annoying.

as promised, more pictures and this time with something better than my phone's camera

Image
here we have a closer look at the basic line infantry, this represents my standard squad layout;
-NCO
-weapons specialist/heavy gunner
-riflemen/grenadiers
-an embedded medik
these are the standard soldiers of the empire, they are draftees taken from planets and sent through a short training period that gives them basic combat competence before being entrusted to NCOs. after being given a rifle they are sent to a godforsaken battleground on a godforsaken planet expected to die at the hands of anything from mechanical death spiders to unsupervised preteens

Spoiler: show
Image
here we see the medik doing what mediks do best, amputating pvt. johnsons leg in attemp to cure his headache.

Image
and a closer look at the NCO and squad gunner

Image
these are the imperial dragoons, the elite infantrymen of the empire. they are slightly more military competent than their peers and have all the cool gear like railguns and combat armor. The imperial dragoons serve as rear guard in most formations, letting riflemen and armored vehicles take the brunt of enemy fire before picking important targets of with their railguns.
Spoiler: show
Image
closeup of the dragoons, showing the powerpack and railgun

Image
closeup of the dragoon heavy gunner, with his upgraded powerpack and the attached NCO

now, for something more interesting...

Image
GLORIOUS POWERED INFANTRY these fellers are absolute beasts, at a cost of 36 CP they are as  expensive to field as four regular troopers + weapons.
Spoiler: show
The Godwyn MK12 powered infantry armor makes any man a total chick magnet, as Lcpl's Wayne and Mike represent in the image below it makes you look taller, more handsome and enhances your melee attacks with a +2
Image
on top of that the armor has an integrated combat AI (which may or may not take the form of an attractive blue female).

of course these men are not complete without a fitting arsenal, they have acces to rocketlaunchers, heavy 3d6 machineguns and the glorious boltgun, a 2d6 autogun capable of ripping even armored targets to shreds within seconds.
Image
Image
Image

now, thats pretty nice right? well, that's not all, behold; the imperial lancers.
Image
these men wear the upgraded MK30 power armor, which is sleeker and uses its expanded power supply to power a 2d6+2 laser cannon, making the troops capable of taking out mosts forms of light armored enemies. they act as vehicle killers specialising in ambush tactics or as defenders of strongpoints.

The vehicles then,
Image
my light combat walkers, designed by the famous engineer Wilzibad the sane, are relatively small bipedal combat machines intended as reconnaissance/infantry support platforms. at size 3 they are a cheap option to bolster a small infantry force and their diverse loadouts allow them to perform a variety of roles

Image
the Alpha loadout is as simple as it gets, a size 3 mech carbine enables it to take out most threats its own size or smaller

Image
its powerpack assembly is barebones, featuring only a mounting point for its carbine and an antenna on the other side

Image
The Bravo loadout is intended to allow the walker to punch above its weight, as its size 4 carbine fires armor piercing rounds meant to take down enemy armor, it's still the a same frame though, so it has to rely on ambush tactics or good cover.

Image
as you can see, it has a beefier powerpack with addtional munitions and a targetting computer.

Image
finally, we have the Charlie loadout, the beefiest of all, it's intended to mow down infantry and hold back enemy advances. its torso is uparmored and shielded so as to prevent it being shot to death by enthousiastic infantry as its unloads its size four autocannon.

Image
this image nicely shows the size differince between the mech carbine, mech rifle and mech cannon. each features a size 2 autogun on the other end to deal with infantry hordes or whilst reloading

Image
for wheeled vehicles we have the "Dinkie" Light Utility Vehicle, a simple derivative of the HMMWV concept it holds one driver, one gunner and three passengers. it's a common sight on imperial militay bases and serves to transport troops and supplies in combat
Spoiler: show
Image
it doesn't always catch fire, but when it does the mechaniks will be soon be on the scene to inform you  they are on lunch break and you can come back in twenty minutes or so

Image
to start off the armored category we have the Shortbow Light Armored Vehicle, this vehicle is the first variant on the bowman family of vehicles, featuring dual autocannons, one driver three gunners and a loader this thing is the infantry's worst nightmare, being able to spit out four 1d10 explosions per turn it has already tough many opponents the importance of spacing.

now, you may be wondering; "can it take care of the pesky helicopters i've been hearing so much about?"
Image
of course it can.

''ah,"you say, "But can it be packed op neatly to fit in the back of dropship then?" you say, slightly taken aback
Image
of course it can, because its awesome

Image
Speaking of awesome. the longbow Light armored vehicle is the middleground of armor in the empire, its serves as direct fire supportplatform with both anti-armor and anti-infantry capacity, its smaller size 3 autocannon is not as deadly as the one on the shortbow, but this is made up for by its lovely size 6 tank-killer
Imagenow aint that just lovely?
while it has lacks the airmobile capacity of the shortbow, it has additional optics and a radar dish because there was some space left over.
Image
finally, to add injury to injury it comes with a M-23 paladin anti air missile, so this one too can take out these pesky helicopters you've been hearing so much about.

Image
and there she is, the gladiatior MBT, heavy armor and a big cannon, this thing is basically a brick of armor with some wheel taped on, simple, cheap and effective; stalin would be proud.
Spoiler: show
Image
Image

featuring targetting computers, armor piercing shells and an automated point defense gun, it will be killing thigs left right and center, as any MBT should

Image
also it has a missile launcher because why not?

now i know what you're thinking, "this all very nice and all, but what i violence frightens me? what if i dare not come near those front lines?"
well, first of all then you're a coward and you need a different hobby, second of all i have this for you:

Image
The godhammer SPG, a lovely piece of kit for any man who is actually a coward. it may not be heavily armored, but by god its accurate, putting rounds on target almost half the time and only hitting friendlies sometimes.

Image
this particular SPG is the current love interest of Major Marcus verhoeven. a man who loves his wive, but loves HE even more

The Office of Military Intelligence

The Office of Military Intelligence, generally referred to as The Office, is the Institution within the empire responsible for securing intelligence, preventing or quelling rebellions and dissidents, <REDACTED>, <REDACTED> and <REDACTED>. The agents of The Office are commonly picked from the ranks of the imperial army or hired from any of the military academies across the empire.
These men and women are picked above all else for being calmer and less murderous than other minifigs and tasked with finding any such warmongering minifigs in the empire that are not actively expanding its borders and either kill them or divert their rage at something that isn't imperial civilians.

Image

The Agents that most citizens will see most are the praetorians, these are combat veterans who have undergone additional training and are tasked with the protection of High ranking officers, Important equipment and Important imperial facilities. In combat they are often seen escorting Senior officers or serving as a rear guard to strike at enemy flankers.
Spoiler: show
Image
seen here escorting a Legate

Image
"Look out sir!"

Image
OMI Legates, in several variations on the official uniform

The senior officers of The Office (haha, i know) are the Legates, they can travel the empire with impunity knowing that they report directly to the Emperor. They often attach themselves to a military unit both to ensure it does not get any ideas of using all those guns they have lying about on imperial citizens, but mostly to use them as a personal army when he needs to take on a crazed warlord that decided to do just that.

Spoiler: show
Image
naturally they are quite adept at explaining to captured prisoners that spilling the beans is a good idea, lest anything else gets spilled....

Image
Frumentarii in Combat dress uniform

The office also maintains a cadre of Frumentarii, these are the armsmen of the Legates. Most Legates only have acces to a handfull however, mainly using them as spies and to manage their resources. The frumentarii are versatile warriors, adept at hand to hand combat, marksmanship and covert operations.

Image
Frumentarii in MK-2 stealthsuits

Image
some DemiFrumentarii

Demifrumentarii lack the high training standarts of their elite contemporaries, they are more akin to clerks and junior officers within the OMI, they often facilitate the link between a Legate and the Military unit he has chosen to assign to him, from left to right; a demifrumentarii pilot, a demifrumentarii in assigned to a group of dragoons and a demifrumentarii assigned to a group of riflemen.

The OMI is a nice thing to build small scale battles around, as they can be shoehorned into just about anything and the combination of few but elite units make for some interesting tactical challenges

The imperial 204th mechanized company, expanded

Postby ImeantToDoThat » Fri Jul 13, 2018 8:45 am

i have added a few more units to the army, here they are.

Image

to start things off, a whole new airborne element featuring two automated fighters, an automated bomber and two troop transports.

the bomber and fighters are mainly there to keep the transports safe and clear a landing site before the battle

the transports are a point of pride, each 50 studs long and capable of transporting up to 30 minifigs each, although they usually carry only 16 and a support vehicle.
Spoiler: show

and lastly i expanded my infantry with some 52 new troops

now that i have some free time on my hands again, i plan to post at least one battle report somewhere in the near future
